Portrait of FPT CEO Nguyen Dang Khoa: from a young engineer, asserting himself in the position of General Director

After 22 years of joining and holding many positions at FPT , in March 2019, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa was appointed by the FPT Board of Directors to the position of General Director of the Group.

Up to now, this young leader of the 7x generation has spent nearly 26 years working and growing up with FPT, and has a deep understanding of business and technology activities with B2B and B2C customers. Looking back on the journey, it is undeniable that this CEO has contributed a part of his strength to the strong development of FPT today.

From a technician to a large company director in just 5 years

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa was born in 1977 and joined FPT very early, when he was a student at Hanoi National Economics University in 1997. Initially, he only held the position of technical support staff.

A year later, this young man quickly became the head of the department. Specifically, in the 5 years from 1998 - 2003, Mr. Khoa held the positions of Head of Project Department; Head of Advertising and Development Department; Head of Technical Support Department of FPT Internet Center (under FPT Corporation).

After that, he was appointed as Director of Infrastructure Management Center of FPT Telecom in the period of 2003 - 2005. In every position, Mr. Khoa completed his tasks and was trusted by the leaders to take on greater responsibilities.

After many years of dedication and commitment, Mr. Khoa was appointed General Director of FPT Telecom Joint Stock Company (FPT Telecom), leading a team of 14,000 people in 2012, when he was only 35 years old, becoming one of the young, key leaders of Vietnam's leading technology group.

In March 2018, Mr. Khoa was transferred to the position of Deputy General Director of FPT, General Director of FPT Information System Company (FPT IS) in the program of planning and training the next generation of leaders of FPT Corporation.

After 1 year, Mr. Khoa officially sat in the CEO chair of FPT Corporation, responsible for running the technology empire.

How did FPT develop under Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa?

With his dedication and devotion to work, during his tenure as FPT Telecom General Director (2012 - 2017), Mr. Khoa and his staff increased FPT Telecom's revenue by 2.6 times and profit by 1.6 times. Along with that, the number of employees also increased by nearly 2 times and had the highest contribution rate to the Group's profit in the period 2012-2016.

Not stopping there, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa quickly became an FPT general when he successfully built the 4,000km North-South axis route passing through 30 provinces and cities in 2012.

Continuously entering new fields, in 2015, FPT was one of the pioneers in converting infrastructure from copper cable to fiber optic cable. Thereby, laying the foundation for the development of FPT Television when deciding to choose IPTV business, television via Internet instead of Cable TV . Currently, FPT Telecom owns telecommunications, Internet and television infrastructure covering 63/63 provinces and cities.

With outstanding achievements in leadership positions, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa was entrusted with a high-level responsibility, which is the General Director of FPT Corporation in 2019.

FPT's new development orientations have initially borne fruit, contributing to the overall growth of the Group.

After only one year, with a fresh vision, determination, and emphasis on creativity and discipline, he has led FPT and its member companies to continuously grow, affirming its position as a leading digital transformation company, while creating a sustainable growth engine for FPT in the long term by developing the Made by FPT Technology Ecosystem. “Made by FPT” is developed based on core technology platforms including AI, Blockchain, Cloud, IoT and Lowcode, which can be widely applied in many fields.

In addition, FPT also opened many new sales channels, combined forces with member units; internal digital transformation helps optimize performance, saving the group hundreds of billions of VND...

With his leadership, Mr. Khoa also contributed "bricks" to help FPT maintain its position in the top 3 most prestigious internet service providers in Vietnam.

Specifically, in 2022, FPT ranked 2nd in the list of Top 10 prestigious information technology - telecommunications companies in 2022. Two member companies of FPT, FPT Software and FPT IS, ranked 1st and 3rd in the list of Top 10 prestigious technology companies providing software services, solutions and system integration in 2022./.
