"Leaving the city for the countryside," Ms. Le Thi Hang (born in 1987) has dedicated her heart and soul to teaching English for free to students in Nui Tuong commune (Tan Phu district, Dong Nai province ).

Ms. Le Thi Hang was born and raised in a village along the Dong Nai River. During her school years, she loved English and chose it as her major when she entered university. After nearly 10 years of teaching foreign languages, in 2016, she decided to return to her hometown to implement a community language project called Nui Tuong.

Knowing that she was a teacher "from the city," many parents enrolled their children in her classes. Word spread, and the number of students grew steadily. For many years, she continued to teach English for free to underprivileged students in the area.

In addition, Ms. Hang instilled in the children a love for nature and plants. She hoped that they would learn while playing, develop teamwork skills, and acquire foreign language proficiency to help them develop the village economy in the future.

Through gardening activities, learning about nature, and sorting waste, she guides the children to understand their responsibility to protect nature.

Besides teaching and helping students plan for their future, Ms. Hang also supports many students in achieving bigger dreams, such as participating in FutureU and cultural exchange programs for young people in South Korea, Cambodia, and Indonesia.

Truong Thi Anh Dao (born in 2004) is one example; she was born in Nui Tuong commune and has been involved with the Nui Tuong Community Project since its early days. After seven years of studying there, having gone through many life lessons and experiences, Anh Dao has changed a lot.

As she approached the threshold of graduating from high school, she applied for a scholarship to the Fulbright School (Ho Chi Minh City).

"That bold decision led many relatives to believe I was just wasting my time. At times, I thought I would collapse under the pressure and simply follow orders."

"But thanks to Ms. Hang and the volunteer team who were always there to support and help me, I received free IELTS tutoring and guidance on applying for scholarships. However, I didn't win the Fulbright scholarship as I had hoped," Anh Dao shared.

Disappointed and afraid to face her family, but with encouragement from Ms. Hang, Anh Dao continued to apply and successfully secured a scholarship from the University of Management and Technology Ho Chi Minh City (UMT), along with a scholarship to support her studies from a benefactor in Nui Tuong commune.

With the support of Ms. Le Thi Hang and the volunteers at the Nui Tuong class, many students in the commune have now participated in the "Future Generation" (FutureU) program. On average, the Nui Tuong class has about 70 students per year, with nearly 10 volunteers along with Ms. Hang teaching the class.

Speaking about the things she has done, Ms. Hang shared that her simple wish is to do good work.

The goal of the Nui Tuong Community Project is to bridge the educational gap for children in the commune and promote a holistic learning model in secondary schools in rural Vietnam, creating a space for children and young people to develop their passions, have opportunities for career guidance, and become knowledgeable, visionary individuals with a sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature.

Everything she does is to help "give wings" to the dreams of rural children.
