
According to initial information, at 8:15 AM on April 15th, the fishing vessel BTh 95768 TS, measuring 19.4 meters in length and with a power of 750 horsepower, engaged in purse seine fishing and captained and owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Tu (residing in Phu Thuy ward, Lam Dong province), suddenly caught fire while anchored approximately 2 km southwest of Phu Hai fishing port.

Immediately after the incident occurred, Thanh Hai Border Guard Station mobilized 3 boats and coordinated with Squadron 2 to deploy 2 vehicles, 1 speedboat, and 1 ship, with 10 officers and soldiers participating in firefighting efforts. By approximately 9:00 AM the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. Much property on the ship was destroyed, and the extent of the damage is currently being assessed.

Reportedly, the fishing vessel BTh 95768 TS departed for sea on April 12, 2026, with 21 crew members. The vessel arrived at Phu Hai fishing port at 5:00 AM on April 15 and anchored offshore, without having completed port entry procedures.
The initial cause of the fire has been identified as a gas leak from a cylinder. The vessel is currently being towed to Phu Hai fishing port for repairs.
