Based on rumors and analyst predictions, Apple will focus on introducing a new software interface. The company is expected to provide some interesting information about Apple Intelligence, but users shouldn't expect any groundbreaking improvements.

What will Apple bring to WWDC 2025?

Speaking to Tri Thức – Znews , analyst Le Xuan Chiew from market research firm Canalys predicts that WWDC 2025 could mark a turning point in Apple's AI strategy. Besides the usual software update, Apple may introduce several improvements for Apple Intelligence.

Apple plans to update the development of a new version of Siri, capable of handling tasks directly on the device and integrating deeply into applications. For developers, this will allow the company to release new tools that make it easier to integrate AI into apps. Apple also emphasizes privacy to differentiate itself from competitors.

"These software updates not only engage users in new ways, but also drive the iPhone upgrade cycle, especially for models equipped with Apple Silicon processors that support AI processing," Chiew said.

According to Canalys ' predictions, 25% of Apple devices on the market will support AI by the end of 2025, but the software will need to be updated to keep up with all user demands.

Recently, competitors like Samsung, Google, and Microsoft have been continuously improving their AI tools, launching new models, or strengthening collaborations.

These moves put pressure on Apple, especially as the demand for AI among iOS users has been "significantly pent up." However, users shouldn't expect too much from the upcoming AI features.

According to analyst Le Xuan Chiew, 8.7 out of every 100 iPhones download the ChatGPT app, higher than Android (5.0/100 devices). This indicates a high demand for AI on Apple devices.

"If Apple can meet the demand with built-in features, while also differentiating itself with privacy, a seamless user experience, and tight integration into the ecosystem, WWDC could be a major turning point."

New information about iOS 26

The new iOS 26 interface is predicted to be the main highlight at WWDC 2025. In the Bloomberg Power On report, analyst Mark Gurman emphasized that this will be the biggest interface change since iOS 7 in 2013.

When Apple launched the first iPhone in 2007, they opted for a skeuomorphism style for the interface. For example, the Notes app had an interface resembling a yellow notebook, the Maps app had a style similar to a paper map, and Game Center looked quite like a card game table.

“The iPhone and iPad were among the world’s first mainstream touchscreen devices. Therefore, applying a design style based on older devices to the software helped users quickly get used to it. Once customers were familiar with touchscreens, that idea was no longer appropriate,” Gurman said.

That's why, in 2013, iOS 7 removed those elements, switching to a flat interface with vibrant colors, simplicity, and modernity. After 12 years, Apple was ready to change the iOS interface to a new style.

According to Gurman, the new interface elements are called Liquid Glass, mimicking the gloss and transparency of glass. This style is expected to be applied to all interface elements across multiple devices, from iPhones and iPads to Mac computers.

“The core interface elements are like a digital glass panel… The toolbars and navigation will change, and the app icons and buttons will also be redesigned. The menu activation process will be significantly altered, meaning users can tap a button to open a list of additional actions,” Gurman said.

The new design also extends to home screen widgets. The Safari browser is expected to receive a "major overhaul" with a more transparent and sleeker address bar.

The Phone app is expected to add a new view mode, combining call history, favorite contacts, and voicemails into a single scrolling screen. Finally, the Preview app on macOS will appear on iPhone and iPad, allowing for easier viewing and annotation of PDF files.

However, the new interface is only part of Apple's larger strategy. According to a Bloomberg writer, Liquid Glass is the foundation for new hardware products, including a special iPhone model in 2027 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone's launch.

“The 20th anniversary iPhone will expand on the glass phone concept, featuring curved glass all around, including the edges. Even the device's bezels will be very thin, and the screen will no longer have a notch. Internally at Apple, the 2027 iPhone is called 'Glasswing,' referring to a butterfly with transparent wings,” Gurman emphasized.

According to a Bloomberg writer, the Liquid Glass interface could help users temporarily forget the fact that Apple is lagging behind in the field of AI. While there is still a long way to go, Apple needs to prove its ability to succeed in this area if it wants to maintain its competitive position in the long term.
