DNO - Faced with the complex developments of Typhoon No. 1, in order to minimize damage, the Border Guard of Da Nang city has proactively implemented many measures to help people in coastal areas prevent and mitigate the effects of the typhoon.

On June 12th, while present in the coastal areas of Lien Chieu district, we observed the urgent atmosphere of the forces assisting the people in responding to typhoon number 1.

Lieutenant Colonel Kieu Duy Tien, Deputy Political Officer of the Hai Van Border Guard Station, said: “The unit has deployed more than 50 officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities and functional forces to organize propaganda, mobilization, assistance, and guidance for more than 200 boats, ships, and motorboats to safe anchorage positions; helping families reinforce and secure their houses. In addition, the unit also organized forces to prepare and ensure facilities at Trung Nu Vuong Primary School (Hoa Hiep Nam ward), Huong Duong Kindergarten and Kim Lien Beach Cultural House (Hoa Hiep Bac ward) to welcome people seeking shelter from the storm.”

In the coastal area of ​​Thanh Khe district, officers and soldiers of the Da Nang City Border Guard, along with other forces, are urgently assisting the people in preventing and responding to Typhoon No. 1.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Minh Hoang, Commander of Phu Loc Border Guard Station, reported: "Yesterday afternoon (June 11) and this morning (June 12), the unit assigned 3 teams, with 24 officers and soldiers, to assist 25 fishing vessels in anchoring and sheltering safely; 21 officers and soldiers were mobilized to help people reinforce their houses in the coastal border areas. In addition, the unit deployed 2 working groups to be on duty in the area to monitor the situation; and 1 mobile team is ready to coordinate with local authorities to implement storm prevention and control measures, especially in low-lying areas in Khe Can (Thanh Khe Tay ward)."

In the Han River area, Man Quang Bay, Tho Quang harbor and fishing port, officers and soldiers of Son Tra Border Guard Station and Border Guard Squadron 2 actively coordinated with other forces to guide and educate ships and boats on the Han River to move to safe shelters; and coordinated with the Management Board of Tho Quang harbor and fishing port to guide and arrange mooring places for ships and boats.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Thuong, Political Officer of Border Guard Squadron 2, along with proactively implementing storm prevention and control plans and ensuring the safety of barracks, warehouses, and soldiers' housing, the unit has prepared ships and boats ready to participate in maritime rescue operations when required.

According to reporters' observations, by midday on June 12th, all fishing boats and vessels belonging to fishermen along the coast of Lien Chieu, Thanh Khe, Son Tra, and Ngu Hanh Son districts had been moved to safe mooring locations.

Colonel Ho Si Hau, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Da Nang City Border Guard, said: "Besides organizing the firing of flares to warn ships and boats, the unit maintains a strict duty regime, ensuring that forces, equipment, and communication are uninterrupted, ready to carry out rescue and relief missions when ordered."

During the night of June 11th and the morning of June 12th, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command mobilized nearly 300 officers and soldiers to critical coastal areas to assist the people in preventing and responding to Typhoon No. 1. To be ready to handle any situations, a mobile platoon of 50 officers and soldiers was established at the Da Nang City Border Guard Command headquarters, ready to be deployed when necessary.
