Join hands to repel the "white death" - Part 1
LTS: Drugs are a common concern of the whole community. Binh Dinh newspaper sent to readers the topic "Joining hands to repel the "white death", reflecting on the incalculable dangers of drugs and joint efforts to repel the "white death".
Term 1: From illusion to reality
Making the fun more exciting is a simple reason for a part of drug users to spend tens of millions of dong for a party of "biting candy" (chewing ecstasy), "breaking ke" (sniffing ketamine). Consequences from the game "all night and all morning" are mental and physical decline and more dangerous than becoming a crime, causing pain and burden on families and society.
"Adventure" with drug party
After a few appointments, H. (in Quang Trung ward, Quy Nhon city) agreed to let me see this smokeless zoo. One weekend evening, at a karaoke bar in the inner city of Quy Nhon, after everyone was present, T. (a member of H.'s group) said: "Today we have to let it go, I invite you".
Having said that, T. took from his hand bag a small package, which contained many blue tablets (ecstasy) and a small white plastic bag (tray). "Green candy" was quickly distributed to each person, especially a young girl about 20 years old shyly waved her hand. T. broke half of the blue tablet, said: “Just try and let me know, it's okay. It just makes me more excited and happy!”. Unable to resist the invitation, this young woman also put the candy in her mouth, to see if it was as delicious as the introduction.

In the harsh music, dim lights, cigarette smoke, secret singing room... made me feel like torture. H. and the group of friends started to show excitement, closed their eyes and swayed and swayed to the music, I also pretended to dance so that I wouldn't "get lost".
About 20 minutes, a couple in the group left the theater room. At this time, H. turned to me and said: Those two children went to "discharge", they will come back shortly. Seeing that I did not seem to understand, H. further explained, depending on the location of each person, when "biting candy" there will be a need for sex. "Once you have "flyed", you must "go to the wharf", otherwise you will be very tired, otherwise you will also be "broken" - that is, causing the "flyer" to fall into a state of being "dumb"", H. speak.
Meanwhile, the girl from earlier kept pacing back and forth, her eyes glazed over with her hands holding her head and swaying to the beat of the music. At this time, a young man approached and patted and used his hand to bend to the music in front of him to "lead" the "virtual" girl to the music.
H.'s group consists mainly of "social brothers" and some "warm boys and girls". H. revealed, the cost of today's "flight" is more than tens of millions of dong. H. said while pouring the powder in a plastic bag onto a plate and then using a card to continuously rotate it to form a straight line (later I found out that it was the "stir-fried" stage). Seeing me staring, H. said, "biting candy" is just the beginning of the game, but with "sniffing" the fun really begins.
Looking at H. and a group of friends in that situation, I suddenly remembered the case of Pham My Anh (SN 2004, in Quy Nhon City). My Anh once invited a friend to contribute money to buy drugs and rent a hotel apartment in Nguyen Van Cu ward (Quy Nhon city) to greet his new age with a drug party. And the price of that party was that My Anh was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison.
Psychosis and crime
Recalling the first exposure to ecstasy, H. said: “That time I went with my lover and was allowed to bite half a "candy" with half a glass of wine. After a few minutes, the throat was burning, the whole body felt hot, the mind was dizzy, and I could not control my actions at that time. All that night, I screamed and danced with my friends."

People who play "candy", "ke" said that anyone who uses it for the first time or many times also encounters this phenomenon. If "biting candy" continuously in one night, the virtual feeling is more, the excitement increases sharply, dancing and spinning tirelessly; However, after that, the body falls apart, in some cases, it is not possible to eat or drink for 2-3 days.
Either because of ignorance, or to justify their hobby, many people think that "candy", "ket" is not addictive, just creates a feeling of "adventure", excitement. But in fact, there have been many cases of murder, intentionally causing injury caused by the person who is "in the mood" (uncontrollable mental state). As in the case of defendant Nguyen Van Hau (SN 2000, in Phu My district), due to the use of many drugs leading to paranoia and hallucinations, many people were injured with knives. According to the conclusion of the examination, at the time of the crime, Hau lost the ability to perceive and control behavior due to using many types of drugs for a long time.
And M. (in Hai Cang ward, Quy Nhon city; using drugs for more than 15 years) often had hallucinatory symptoms, used a hard object to hit his head, causing bleeding, so his family took him to the hospital.
M. shared: “I often have the feeling that someone is chasing me and asking me to go away, I am very upset, so I have actions that harm myself. Many times I "get up" and can't control myself, I even chased and beat my relatives and neighbors, causing everyone to panic. My family had to take me to the provincial Psychiatric Hospital for treatment.”
According to Doctor Vo Van Thong, Head of Male Treatment Department (Provincial Psychiatric Hospital), narcotics act quickly on the nervous system, causing users to quickly become dependent and lose control of their behavior. More dangerous, if used in high doses, for a long time, these substances will make the user's nervous system numb and make treatment more difficult.
Usually, hospitalized psychotic patients are in a state of loss of behavioral control, psychosis, and like to quarrel with people around. Drug-induced psychosis is often recurrent because patients are prone to relapse.
“Physically, the body is agitated, anorexia, insomnia easily leads to exhaustion; The state of excitement creates hallucinations, causing arrhythmias that can easily lead to heart failure and sudden death. Psychologically, "ecstasy" stimulates the central nervous system, so it often creates a feeling of excitement, over time users lose sexual ability, women are prone to miscarriage. However, very few users know this, because in the early stages, it seems to promote sexual activity," Thong analyzed.
According to the statistics of the Provincial Psychiatric Hospital, the number of patients admitted to the hospital for treatment of mental and behavioral disorders due to drug use
Drug addiction has increased dramatically recently. Specifically, from the beginning of 2023 until now, the Hospital has provided outpatient care for 118 patients (in which 108 men, 10 women); Inpatient examination and treatment for 51 patients (male 47, female 4), an increase of 5 patients compared to the same period in 2022. Most of the patients entering the hospital for inpatient examination and treatment are quite young in age. , from 18 to 22; Some are even 15 years old.
