After changing its name, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club (formerly the Ho Chi Minh City Club) is actively recruiting players and training diligently, aiming to reach the top 3 in the V-League 2025-2026 as well as achieve high results in the new National Cup season.

Successfully recruited a veteran strategist.

Not only did they retain their old coaching staff, but the team based at Thong Nhat Stadium also successfully recruited veteran strategist Le Huynh Duc. During his playing career, the former Vietnam national team striker was a legend of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club, scoring 60 goals in 86 appearances for the police team between 1995 and 2000.

At the peak of his career, Le Huynh Duc contributed to the national championship victory of Ho Chi Minh City Police FC, winning the Vietnamese Golden Ball award three times in 1995, 1997, and 2002, and was a top scorer in domestic leagues. In addition, Le Huynh Duc also holds the record for participating in five consecutive Tiger Cup (now ASEAN Cup) tournaments (1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2004).

Having embarked on a coaching career, the legend born in 1972 achieved great success while leading Da Nang FC. During their golden age, Mr. Duc played a major role in helping the team from the Han River reach the pinnacle of domestic football, winning the V-League championship (2009, 2012), finishing as runner-up in the 2013 V-League, third place in the V-League (2011, 2016), and winning the National Cup in 2009.

However, upon moving south, coach Le Huynh Duc has not been able to bring success, having previously managed Saigon FC as Technical Director in the 2021 V-League season and as coach of Binh Duong FC (now Becamex Ho Chi Minh City FC) in the 2023-2024 season.

Returning to the "sacred ground" of Thong Nhat Stadium, the 53-year-old strategist is expected by Ho Chi Minh City football fans to help the team rebuild its identity of attractive, total-attacking football, bringing Ho Chi Minh City Police FC back to its top position on the Vietnamese football map.

In recent friendly matches, coach Le Huynh Duc personally trained and instructed the players of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club. He also advised the management to bring in many high-quality stars to serve the new season.

A star-studded gathering

Besides the new head coach Le Huynh Duc, the core of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club has been strengthened with many national team players such as: striker Nguyen Tien Linh, midfielder Pham Duc Huy, Endrick dos Santos (Malaysian national team player), Nguyen Duc Phu, Dang Van Lam and Le Quang Hung.

Among them, Tien Linh stands out as a leading star in the domestic league, ranking in the top 3 with the most goals in the V-League 2024-2025 with 13 goals. The reigning Vietnamese Golden Ball winner not only played a major role in helping the national team win the ASEAN Cup 2024 but also became the second-highest scorer in the tournament.

Last season, Ho Chi Minh City FC (now Ho Chi Minh City Police FC) struggled to avoid relegation due to a lack of sharpness in their attack and the inability of their foreign players to score in the V-League. Therefore, the addition of Tien Linh this season will help coach Le Huynh Duc's team solve their attacking problems.

Despite parting ways with several players after the 2024-2025 season, Ho Chi Minh City Police FC has retained key players in its core squad for the new season, including goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang, defender Vo Huy Toan, center-back Tran Hoang Phuc, and midfielder Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong…

In addition, alongside coach Le Huynh Duc on the coaching bench are familiar colleagues, former members of the "red battleship," including assistant coaches Phung Thanh Phuong, Hoang Hung, and Chau Tri Cuong.

"The Ho Chi Minh City Police Club trains at the District 7 Stadium (Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Phu Thuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). This headquarters has modern infrastructure, specialized functional rooms, and meets international standards."
