As guests of Hanoi FC, Hoang Anh Gia Lai focused on playing defensively from the start of the match. They tried to keep the distance between positions narrow, while organizing to surround the satellites of the capital team, making it impossible for coach Makoto Teguramori's team to play the beautiful attacking football they wanted.
At many times, Hoang Anh Gia Lai deployed up to 9 players in front of the penalty area. When they had the ball, the team from the mountain town had no intention of attacking or only responded weakly. That way of playing somewhat discouraged Van Quyet and his teammates.
The last 30 minutes were the time when Hanoi FC imposed a one-sided game on Hoang Anh Gia Lai. The team from the mountain town needed the excellence of goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien and the support of luck to be able to gain 1 point. Because Trung Kien blocked 5 clear scoring opportunities of the home team, made by Xuan Manh, Hai Long, Van Quyet and Van Tung.
In the 90+14th minute, Hanoi was also denied a goal when Thanh Chung tapped the ball close to the goal because the referee thought Chung was offside.
This is unfortunate for Hanoi because the VAR team needed 7 minutes to consider a camera angle that was not really clear.
With 3 times more shots than Hoang Anh Gia Lai (21 vs 7), ball control rate 66% vs 33%, the 0-0 draw can be considered regrettable for Hanoi Club in this match.
This is the second consecutive match without a win for coach Teguramori and his team, even though the Japanese coach has deployed all of his best players.
Previously, the capital team lost to Ho Chi Minh City Police in round 1. Currently, Hanoi is only temporarily ranked 11th on the rankings with 1 point.
With such a start, the capital team's journey to the championship in V-League 2025 - 2026 seems very thorny.
