On the afternoon of March 31, Nam Dinh Club had a farewell party for midfielder Hendrio - a factor that made an important contribution to helping the team win the 2023 - 2024 V-League championship.
The coaching staff and players send their best wishes to the Brazilian player in the upcoming journey.
In the mid-season transfer period of 2024 - 2025, Nam Dinh Club carefully considered whether to retain Hendrio or add a foreign striker to replace Nguyen Xuan Son, who suffered a long-term injury.
The coaching staff of the Thanh Nam team wanted to build a more direct and fast attacking style of play, so they did not register Hendrio.
After staying to train with the team, the Brazilian midfielder decided to terminate his contract early and leave to find a new challenge for his career.
Nam Dinh FC's foreign players currently include: versatile player Joseph Mpande, central defender Lucas Alves, midfielder Caio, Romulo and striker Brenner. The only foreign player of Vietnamese origin is Kevin Pham Ba.
It is known that in the coming time, Hendrio will continue to train to find a new destination in the Vietnamese football environment. Because the registration deadline for the second leg of the 2024-2025 season has expired, the Brazilian midfielder will have to wait until next season to be able to return to play.
Hendrio is not eligible for naturalization.
On the professional side, public opinion is also concerned about the possibility of Hendrio becoming a Vietnamese citizen and being able to contribute to the national team like his teammate Nguyen Xuan Son (Rafaelson) at the ASEAN Cup 2024.

According to data from Transfermarkt, Hendrio started playing in Vietnam from January 12, 2021. With this timeline, Hendrio needs to stay in Vietnam until January 12, 2026 to meet the criteria of "living in the country for at least 5 years" to be naturalized and play for the Vietnamese national team.
Specifically, in the FIFA regulations on the eligibility of players to play for a national team, one of the mandatory conditions in the case of a player representing more than one association (football federation), or having a new nationality without having played internationally:
"In addition to having the relevant nationality, a player is only eligible to represent more than one association, playing in an international match for one of these associations, if he has lived in the territory of the relevant association for at least five years," FIFA regulations state.
Explaining the term "time spent on the territory", FIFA regulations state: a player must be present for at least 183 days in a 12-month period to be considered to have "lived on the territory" in that year.
