Thai Son Nam Club crowned champions of the 2023 HDBank National Futsal Championship.
In the final round of the 2023 HDBank National Futsal Championship, Thai Son Nam Club (29 points) needed at least 1 point against GFDI Song Han to secure the championship without having to worry about the result of the simultaneous match between Sahako Club and Hanoi Club.
The visiting team, GFDI Song Han, was considered the underdog, while the home team had the advantage of playing at the District 8 Gymnasium (Ho Chi Minh City). However, the Central Vietnamese representatives played tenaciously, making things very difficult for Thai Son Nam. Not only did they struggle to secure three points, but Coach Gustavo Nicolas's players were also disorganized throughout the match.
With a tenacious defense, Coach Huynh Viet Nam's team held the score 0-0 until the 39th minute. They even stunned Thai Son Nam with Khanh Huy's opening goal from a power-play effort.

This lightning-fast goal caused Thai Son Nam to lose their top spot in the league table because, in the match played at the same time, Sahako Club had already secured a resounding 8-3 victory against Hanoi Club at the My Dinh Athletics Stadium (Hanoi).
Sahako will defend their title if GFDI Song Han Club maintains their 1-0 lead until the end of the match, as Sahako Club also has 29 points like Thai Son Nam Club but a significantly better goal difference.
Coach Gustavo Nicolas had to consult and resort to a "win big or lose everything" power-play to find an equalizer for Thai Son Nam FC. With just over 30 seconds remaining, Chau Doan Phat demonstrated the prowess of a star who once scored the goal that secured Vietnam's qualification for the 2021 Futsal World Cup, with a decisive shot into the far corner, beating goalkeeper Duy Binh of GFDI Song Han FC.

But the drama didn't end there. With only 12 seconds left in the match, it was Phuoc Hanh's turn to have a close-range shot after a mistake by the home team's defense. But in that critical moment, captain Van Vu threw himself to block the shot from the GFDI Song Han captain.
By securing a thrilling 1-1 draw, Thai Son Nam FC officially reclaimed the top spot and the championship title from their rivals Sahako. Coach Gustavo Nicolas's team now has 30 points, just one point ahead of the 2022 champions.
Third place went to Thai Son Bac Club after a 1-0 victory over Cao Bang in the final round. Winning the HDBank National Futsal Championship 2023 also marked Thai Son Nam Club's 12th title in 17 editions of the tournament.
