New opportunity of Kicafoods vermicelli and dry noodle soup
At the end of June, the Kicafoods dry noodle and noodle production project of the food business Kicafoods (An Hao Dong commune, Hoai An district) was the only representative of Binh Dinh province to enter the semi-finals of the Contest. Rural youth start-up project in 6 organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. Together with 2023 representatives of the whole country, Kicafoods' project at the contest promises to bring opportunities for cooperation and product promotion.
In mid-2020, Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Kieu and Ms. Le Thi Canh started their business in their hometown of An Hao Dong with the profession of making traditional dry noodles and pho. With the support of family, relatives, the couple invested in building factories, machinery and equipment, by 2021 registered the establishment of Kicafoods food production and trading establishment - the main product of vermicelli, dry pho from rice and brown rice.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Kieu, from the very beginning, he and his wife have focused on design and product packaging; prioritize safe and high-quality processing materials, ensuring the health of consumers. Thanks to such comprehensive investment focus, right after its launch, Kicafoods products were well received by consumers. In 2022, with the support of local authorities, Kicafoods got a loan at a preferential interest rate from the Social Policy Bank of Hoai An district, combined with profitable capital in business, and Mr. Kieu and his wife decided to invest in the near future. 500 million to expand production scale.
After more than 3 years of establishment and development, Kicafoods dry noodle and noodle soup has been recognized as a 3-star provincial OCOP product, considered a product with great potential for investment and development in the locality. Kieu and his wife approach technology, put Kicafoods' products on online consumption channels, and expand the market. Kicafoods' products are currently wholesaled through many agents and distributors throughout the provinces and cities in the country. In early 2023, Kicafoods dried noodles and pho were exported to Laos and Cambodia markets. Currently, 30 boxes of samples have been sent to New Zealand and South Korea for partners to analyze, evaluate quality, and probe customers' needs.

According to Ms. Le Thi Canh, a direct production facility, and at the same time receiving additional processing for many enterprises, on average, each day produces 500 kg of vermicelli and pho of all kinds; revenue reached 285 million VND/month, creating jobs for 3-4 local workers. With the advantage of producing traditional products, Kicafoods facility flexibly and boldly participates in the chain of production and consumption of products of Hoai An Youth Cooperative, thereby expanding opportunities to promote products.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Kieu shared: Realizing that the criteria from the Rural Youth Entrepreneurship Project Contest 2023 are consistent with the production development orientation of the facility, we boldly applied for the contest. The goal of Kicafoods is to promote the brand to consumers, increase awareness with customers, and then return to production development. In the short term, we maintain existing orders, find more partners to export products. It is expected that in 2024, the company will be established to improve comprehensively.
The 2023 Rural Youth Startup Project Contest will take place through 3 rounds, the preliminary round, the semi-final (July 15.7 - August 15.8) and the final round (September 9.2023). The Organizing Committee will award 1 first prize (including 50 million VND and loan support from the National Employment Fund to implement the project with a maximum amount of 1 billion VND); 2 second prizes (each prize is worth 30 million VND and is supported by capital from the National Employment Fund to implement the project with a maximum amount of 500 million VND); 3 third prizes (each prize is 15 million VND and is supported with capital from the National Employment Fund to implement the project with a maximum amount of 300 million VND).
The award ceremony is expected to take place in October 10.2023.
