(Chinhphu.vn) - There are currently about 2.8 million transport accounts that have not been connected to non-cash payment methods.

There are about more than 3 million/total 5.8 million transport accounts connected to non-cash payment means.

The Vietnam Road Administration ( Ministry of Construction ) has just issued a press release on converting toll collection accounts to traffic accounts connected to non-cash payment means according to the provisions of Decree No. 119/2024.

According to this agency, immediately after the decree was issued, the Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Road Administration stepped up propaganda and guidance for vehicle owners on the roadmap and conversion methods, and closely coordinated with service providers to facilitate the connection of transport accounts with non-cash payment methods.

There are still 2.8 million traffic accounts not connected.

To date, there have been approximately more than 3 million out of a total of 5.8 million transport accounts connected to non-cash payment methods. Approximately 2.8 million transport accounts have not yet been connected to non-cash payment methods.

In September 2025, the Vietnam Road Administration coordinated with service providers to review transaction data, showing that there were about 900,000 traffic accounts that had generated transactions but had not yet connected to non-cash payment methods.

The main reason is that some vehicle owners are not interested and do not have the need to travel through toll stations, so they have not connected their traffic accounts with non-cash payment methods; there is difficulty in linking with bank accounts.

The Vietnam Road Administration, road payment service providers and relevant agencies are continuing to strengthen communication work to accelerate the connection of traffic accounts with non-cash payment methods of vehicle owners according to the provisions of the decree.

At the same time, direct investors and BOT project enterprises to coordinate with road payment service providers to arrange staff on duty at the station 24/7 to support and guide vehicle owners to connect their traffic accounts with non-cash payment methods, and remove difficulties and obstacles to facilitate vehicle owners in connecting their traffic accounts with payment methods.

The Vietnam Road Administration recommends that vehicle owners continue to cooperate to connect their transport accounts and non-cash payment means. Registration of non-cash payment means and linking to transport accounts is only done on the vehicle owners' current applications (no need to install new applications).
