Haaland's final nightmare

Erling Haaland was disappointing in Manchester City's 0-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on May 17th.

Haaland failed to score in the final.

This is the second consecutive time Pep Guardiola's team has failed to win the FA Cup final, after losing to Manchester United in 2024.

Haaland was expected to perform well in the clash against Palace but failed to score throughout the match. This was the ninth consecutive final in which the Norwegian striker failed to score. If we consider matches at Wembley, Haaland has also failed to score in all six of those games played there.

The only goal of the match was scored by Eberechi Eze in the first half, securing Crystal Palace's first-ever FA Cup victory. This win also earned Palace a place in next season's Europa League.

Meanwhile, for the first time since 2017, Man City finished the season without any trophies (except the Community Shield). This also marks the second season in Pep's managerial career in which he has failed to win any competition.

Currently, Man City is not yet guaranteed a place in the Champions League for the 2025/26 season. They are currently sixth in the Premier League table, one point behind Chelsea and Aston Villa, but with a game in hand.

Haaland needs to rediscover his goalscoring form when Manchester City face Bournemouth at home in their Premier League matchday 37 game on May 21st. The race for Champions League qualification is becoming increasingly intense, and Haaland's goals are crucial at this point.

Haaland missed several chances as Man City narrowly defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in their Premier League matchday 27 game on February 27th.
