Diagnosed with leukemia at six months old, Ý is smaller, thinner, and paler than her classmates. Prolonged treatments have weakened her health, leaving her frequently tired and sometimes forcing her to miss school for infusions. However, after each treatment, Ý always tries to return to class with a gentle smile and eyes full of determination.

Ý's family is struggling financially, and the cost of her medical treatment over the years has been a huge burden on her parents. Despite this, what everyone admires about Ý is her thirst for knowledge and her unwavering determination to overcome her illness. She always strives to complete her assignments, listens attentively to lectures, and maintains consistent academic results. Ý said emotionally, "I don't want to drop out of school. My limbs are still healthy, and I want to go to school like my friends. I will try to go to school until I can no longer walk."
The heartfelt confession of this young student touched everyone who heard it. For Ý, going to school each day was a great joy, a motivation for her to continue fighting the leukemia that had plagued her for many years. Knowing Ý's difficult circumstances, the school's administration and teachers organized a fundraising effort to help her family cover treatment costs. Beyond providing material support, the teachers always showed Ý special care and encouragement, urging her to overcome her illness and continue her studies.
To help Ý have better learning conditions, the school arranged for Dao Kha Han to support, assist, and tutor her in her daily studies. “Ý is a very good student, she does her homework carefully and is very persistent. There were many days when I saw her tired but still tried to sit through all the lessons, and I felt so sorry for her. When she was tired, we took turns writing notes and reminding her so she could keep up with the other students in the class,” Han said emotionally. The love and support from teachers and friends has become a great source of encouragement, giving the little student the strength to continue going to school.
Dao Van Trieu, Ý's father, choked up as he shared that the family had considered having their daughter drop out of school many times to protect her health. There were days when Ý would suddenly faint in class, causing her family immense worry. However, whenever the topic of dropping out of school came up, the little girl would earnestly beg her parents to let her continue. “Ý said that if her parents didn't let her go to school, she would be sad, and the sadder she was, the worse her illness would become. Hearing her say that, my family couldn't bear it. No matter how difficult it was, my wife and I tried our best to take her to and from school until she no longer had the strength,” Mr. Trieu shared.
Currently, the family can only focus on treatment to prolong Ý's life. For each treatment session, Mr. Triều takes his daughter to the hospital for infusions and dialysis as prescribed by the doctor. Over the years, the journey of treating Ý has become a heavy burden for the family. However, seeing their daughter's unwavering desire to learn and her never-give-up dream of going to school, Mr. Triều and his wife find the motivation to support her on this arduous journey ahead.
