Voters in Quang Tri province support the reorganization of administrative units.

(Chinhphu.vn) - The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has submitted a summary report on the results of soliciting opinions from household representatives and the voting results of People's Councils at all levels regarding the Project to establish Quang Tri province based on the merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces, and the Project to rearrange commune-level administrative units in Quang Tri province.

Voters in Quang Tri province support the reorganization of provincial and commune-level administrative units.

The People's Committee of Quang Tri province announced that, in order to implement the process of gathering voter opinions and submitting the plan to the People's Councils at all levels throughout the province, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province issued Official Letter No. 1544/UBND-NC dated April 16, 2025, directing and guiding the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities; and communes, wards, and townships to organize the collection of voter opinions on the plan for rearranging administrative units at the provincial and commune levels and submitting it to the People's Councils at all levels for approval of the policy to establish Quang Tri province based on the merger of Quang Binh province with Quang Tri province and the rearrangement of commune-level administrative units in Quang Tri province.

Based on the plan and directives of the Provincial People's Committee, the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities have issued directives and organized conferences for key leaders of communes, wards, and townships, Party branch secretaries, village heads, and neighborhood group leaders to explain the purpose and requirements of the rearrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units. They have also directed communes, wards, and townships to focus on propaganda and mobilization efforts to gain voter consensus before conducting public consultations.

The process of compiling and posting voter lists and distributing ballots for voter consultations has been implemented by local authorities in accordance with regulations.

As a result, regarding the proposal to establish Quang Tri province by merging Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces, 170,668 out of 177,406 voters supported it, achieving a rate of 98.76%; 2,136 out of 172,811 voters did not support it, accounting for 1.24%.

The majority of voters support the reorganization of commune-level administrative units.

According to the report, the majority of voters support the plan to reorganize commune-level administrative units in Quang Tri province.

Of those, 1,292 out of 1,355 voters supported the establishment of Dong Ha ward based on the merger of commune-level administrative units including wards 1, 3, 4, Dong Giang, and Dong Thanh, achieving a rate of 95.35%.

3,383 out of 3,409 voters supported the establishment of Nam Dong Ha ward based on the merger of commune-level administrative units including wards 2, 5, Dong Le, and Dong Luong, achieving a rate of 99.24%.

Out of 1,147 voters, 1,145 supported the establishment of Quang Tri ward by merging the commune-level administrative units including Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3, An Don Ward and Hai Le commune, achieving a rate of 99.83%.

1,367/1,656 voters supported the establishment of Gio Linh commune based on the merger of 04 commune-level administrative units including: Gio Quang commune, Gio My commune, Phong Binh commune and Gio Linh town.

100% of voters support the establishment of Huong Lap commune based on the merger of 2 administrative units. Commune level: Huong Lap commune and Huong Viet commune…

According to the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, the majority of commune and district-level People's Council representatives support the plan to establish Quang Tri province based on the merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces, and the plan to reorganize commune-level administrative units in Quang Tri province.
