Provincial police forces join hands to clean up Thai Market after the floods.
Sharing every drop of water, every piece of clothing.
Never before have the central wards of the province experienced such prolonged power and water outages. Since the morning of October 7th, many areas in Phan Dinh Phung ward have been without electricity, leading to widespread water shortages.
Due to limited water reserves, after only two days of use, many families no longer had water to meet their basic needs.
Ms. Tran Thi Lieu, from group 90, Phan Dinh Phung ward, said: "Although we are not in the flooded area, my residential area is completely isolated and cut off from the outside world. When the electricity and water were cut off, my whole family consciously tried to save and conserve every drop of water, but it only lasted two days before running out. At that time, I was very worried. Fortunately, our neighbor has a large water tank and shared their water with the surrounding households."
During the days waiting for the floodwaters to recede, the house of Ms. Tiet Thi Khanh, Ms. Lieu's neighbor, was bustling with people. Due to the large size of her house, it became a shelter from the rain and water for people from lower areas or households along the Cau River. Even though she didn't know when electricity or running water would be available, she still shared her clean water with everyone.
Ms. Khanh shared: "When people are in difficult situations, I can't just stand by because neighbors need each other the most, especially at times like these. Supporting people during the storms and floods, although a little tiring, makes me and my family feel happy and fulfilled."
At the Tcico Land high-rise building, located at 5/1 Bac Kan Street, thanks to timely flood control measures, the entire area has remained safe. With the advantage of having a drilled well, the area has welcomed and facilitated the use of water by many residents from the surrounding area, allowing them to take water home to meet their family's needs.
Besides sharing water, people also shared every piece of clothing. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh, from group 90, Phan Dinh Phung ward, said: "The flood came so quickly, my family didn't have time to react; escaping was already a blessing! All the belongings in the house, including clothes, were submerged in water, and we had no food. However, we were not alone because the households not affected by the flood were always there to support us. All the clothes we are wearing were given to us by others. During the days of flooding, we were never left hungry because of the support of everyone around us…"
During the storms and floods, the people of Thai Nguyen always show abundant compassion, sharing, and love and protection.
Helping each other clean up after the storm.

Let's work together to help clean up homes and streets, gradually stabilizing our lives.
During the days of storms and floods, many families of teachers at schools had their homes and belongings submerged in water. When the floodwaters receded, the houses were covered in mud and debris from nearby areas. Cleaning up with just a few family members wouldn't be possible in one or two days; it could take one to two weeks. During this difficult time, many schools mobilized their staff to help clean up their colleagues' homes.
Ms. Truong Thi Quynh, a teacher at Binh Son Primary School in Tan Cuong commune, shared: "My family lives in the former Tuc Duyen ward area, which was severely flooded. When the floodwaters receded, my husband and I were extremely distraught and felt almost helpless watching the amount of mud and debris flowing into our house. Fortunately, our colleagues came to help us clean up our house in time. More than a dozen people worked together for a day, making our house clean again. Now I can confidently return to school to work…"
Not only are colleagues supporting each other, but households are also proactively helping each other clean up their homes. Ms. Dinh Hong Lien, from Group 90, Phan Dinh Phung Ward, shared: "I'm lucky that my family wasn't flooded, and our property is still intact. Meanwhile, many families around here not only suffered property damage but will also have to put in a lot of effort to clean up their houses because of the mud and debris that flooded in. Therefore, I didn't hesitate to participate in the support, hoping to contribute to helping households stabilize their lives as soon as possible."
Joining hands with the people after the floods, many motorbike repair shops have provided free or discounted repairs for people in flooded areas. Some skilled individuals have even proactively gathered manpower to repair electrical appliances damaged by the floodwaters for free.
Ms. Vu Thi Lan, from Quan Trieu ward, shared: "It's truly heartbreaking, because the floods swept away so much of the hard work that many families had accumulated over a lifetime. However, the care and support from the community is a precious remedy, a motivation for everyone to strive to overcome the immediate difficulties."

Officers, soldiers, and residents of Phan Dinh Phung ward are helping each other clean up houses and get cars repaired after the floods.
These past few days, wherever we went, we encountered images of officers and soldiers of the armed forces working hand in hand with the people to clean up and overcome the consequences of the floods. Although their uniforms were covered in mud, their faces still shone with positive energy. Perhaps, in the hearts of each soldier, helping and accompanying the people in times of difficulty is not only a mission but also a source of peace of mind and a form of sharing.
Thai Nguyen has bravely overcome the storms and floods. It was the unity and solidarity that helped this land, just a few days after the water receded, to begin returning to normal life. Soon, Thai Nguyen will be peaceful again…
