Generative artificial intelligence (AI) - a type of AI that can create new content such as text, images, videos , and sounds - is being widely and intensively used to create new products and services such as chatbots, virtual assistants, creative tools, etc., applied in many areas of life.

Many applications

The world's leading technology corporations are developing generative AI at a fairly fast pace. Among them, Google has pioneered the development of a number of generative AI systems, such as: Deep Dream (which can create abstract images from real photos), Dall-e (which can create images from text descriptions), GPT-3 (which can create text, translate languages, and write various types of creative content).

Google recently announced new product enhancements to enable businesses and public sector organizations in Southeast Asia to experiment and build applications with large language models and generative AI. Accordingly, Google’s Vertex AI is a comprehensive AI platform that allows customers to access, tune and deploy models as well as build and scale generative AI applications.

Amazon has developed a number of generative AI systems, such as: Amazon Rekognition (analyzes images and videos to detect and recognize objects); Amazon Lex (chatbot service that can communicate and interact with humans like humans). Meanwhile, Facebook has been involved in generative AI early, developing a number of generative AI systems, typically DeepText (a generative AI system that can translate languages, write different types of creative content and answer users' questions with full information).

“Packaged” generative AI for sale has also appeared, such as VMware Technology Group has just launched a Private AI service package to promote businesses to apply generative AI. “VMware Private AI realizes a future vision in which generative AI serves every member of the enterprise by bringing the choice of computing model and AI technology closer to the enterprise data. Private AI offers a variety of usage options, from software development, creating marketing content to customer service tasks and gathering insights from data,” said Chris Wolf, Vice President of VMware AI Labs.

Vietnam joins in

In Vietnam, leading technology companies have developed generative AI for application. Specifically, FPT Software has developed a number of generative AI such as: FPT AI Writer (generative AI system that can write text, translate languages ​​and answer user questions with full information); FPT AI Chatbot (can communicate and interact with humans like humans, is being used in applications such as customer care and sales). AI startup Lumitics is developing a generative AI system that can create lifelike images, videos and sounds. This system is being used in applications such as entertainment, education and marketing.

Professor Thoai Nam, University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), said that generative AI creates many application values, realizing the application of AI in life. However, generative AI can bring some risks, such as generative AI can be biased by its training data, can be used to create fake creative content... This can have an impact on reducing trust in technology application, so we need to have good preparations in terms of technology platform and legal policies to limit negative aspects, towards exploiting and applying generative AI in a positive way.

According to the announcement of VinBigdata Joint Stock Company, this company has successfully built a large Vietnamese language model, laying the foundation for building integrated solutions for generative AI. Fully mastering the technology, self-developing from the first steps, successfully building a large Vietnamese language model is considered an important step to help VinBigdata bring generative AI technology into the ecosystem of products and services that have been and are being provided to the market.

VinBigdata will integrate technology to make VinBase (a comprehensive multi-cognitive AI platform) the first generative AI platform in Vietnam; at the same time, provide development solutions based on generative AI technology such as Generative AI chatbot, callbot or new generation ViVi Virtual Assistant... to help increase the naturalness in machine communication, support users to search and synthesize information much faster and simpler than before.

Instead of needing about 175 billion parameters like ChatGPT, VinBigdata can create a large language model with several billion parameters but still has the ability to generate highly authentic documents, focusing on Vietnamese data and Vietnamese knowledge”.
