On June 17th, the three films engaged in a breathtaking competition for box office revenue. The Zombies took the lead with over 3.6 billion VND , selling approximately 46,000 tickets across nearly 2,000 screenings.
The box office results for "Ma Xó" and "Lầu Chú Hỏa" were also very close, with almost no difference compared to their competitors. The revenue gap between the leading film and the top 3 was less than 50 million VND.
However, if we consider the average ticket sales per screening, "The Fire Mansion" is slightly better with 24 tickets/screening, while "The Zombies" sold 23 tickets/screening and "The Ghost" around 20 tickets/screening.
Based on current figures, it's likely that both "The Zombie Swarm" and "Uncle Hoa's Mansion" will continue to have increased screenings in theaters in the coming days. Both are newly released films that are receiving attention from audiences. "Uncle Hoa's Mansion" is impressive as the first Vietnamese horror film in the found footage style (simulated documentary). Despite its low budget, the project has received positive feedback, being praised for its gruesome and intense experience.
Meanwhile, The Walking Dead is a South Korean blockbuster. While exploring the familiar zombie theme, the film still drew large audiences to theaters thanks to its star-studded cast and director Yeon Sang Ho – the man behind the box office hit Train to Busan .

With "The Ghost ," the film's popularity has cooled down after about two weeks of release. The film's revenue is recorded at 130 billion VND (as of the evening of June 17th).
The fact that three horror films are dominating Vietnamese theaters is a rare phenomenon. This proves that the genre is gradually regaining the favor of domestic audiences, after a period of being shunned due to mediocre quality. On the other hand, theaters are currently flooded with horror films, so viewers don't have many other choices.
