Low supply at the end of the season, high rice prices

Rice prices today, April 17, in the Mekong Delta region continue to remain stable for all types of rice while adjusting down for white rice.

In An Giang, according to the update of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of rice of all kinds today continues to move sideways. Currently, OM 18 rice is at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; OM 5451 is at 7,600 - 7,700 VND/kg; fresh Long An sticky rice is 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice fluctuates around 7,700 - 8,000 VND/kg; IR 504 is at 7,300 - 7,500 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 rice fluctuates around 7,500 - 7,700 VND/kg; OM 380 rice remains stable around 7,500 - 7,600 VND/kg.

Rice prices are stable at the end of the season.

In many localities today, rice supply is still low, farmers are offering high prices. Accordingly, in Bac Lieu and Soc Trang, the demand for rice for market goods is quite high, prices fluctuate slightly. Fresh Japonica rice is only sold in small quantities, fresh and dry rice prices are stable. In Kien Giang, the quality of Japonica rice at the end of the field is a bit poor, prices have dropped slightly. In An Giang, warehouses are asking to buy a lot of dry rice, traders have not sold yet...

In the rice market, prices fluctuated little, except for raw rice and finished rice, which decreased slightly by 50 VND. Specifically, the price of IR 504 raw rice fluctuated around 11,300 - 11,400 VND/kg, down 50 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice fluctuated at 13,750 - 13,850 VND/kg, down 50 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, the price of by-products today remains stable. Accordingly, the price of IR 504 sheet remains stable at 11,200 - 11,300 VND/kg; dry bran fluctuates around 5,200 - 5,300 VND/kg.

In Lap Vo - Vam Cong (Dong Thap), rice arrivals are low, warehouses buy regularly, with the same amount of sticky rice. In An Cu (Cai Be), the arrivals were flat yesterday. Warehouses buy quite well, prices fluctuate little. In An Giang, rice arrivals are low, warehouses buy slower, factories offer stable prices. In Thot Not (Can Tho), transactions are slow, purchasing power is not much, factories offer many customers with low prices...

At retail markets, rice prices remained stable. Accordingly, the price of regular rice fluctuated around 14,000 - 15,000 VND/kg; Jasmine rice 17,000 - 18,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice 26,000 VND/kg; long-grain fragrant rice 19,000 - 20,000 VND/kg; Huong jasmine rice 21,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice 20,000 VND/kg.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices remain stable today. According to the Vietnam Food Association, 5% broken rice is currently at 578 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 549 USD/ton; 100% broken rice remains stable at 480 USD/ton.
