Joining Hanoi FC, Makoto Teguramori will become the coach with the most impressive resume to have led the capital city's team. He has worked for many years with a generation of talented Japanese footballers - including two prominent representatives, Takumi Minamino and Wataru Endo, who won the Asian Championship.
In 2016, Makoto Teguramori was appointed head coach of the Japan U23 team for the AFC U23 Asian Championship finals. The squad he used at the time included some of Japan's top talents such as Wataru Endo, Shoya Nakajima, Takuma Asano, and Takumi Minamino.
Japan's U23 team won all their group stage matches, conceding only one goal. Coach Makoto and his players were placed in a difficult bracket but still defeated Iran, Iraq, and South Korea to win the championship and qualify for the men's football tournament at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The opponent that Coach Makoto defeated was Shin Tae-yong. After the final match, the South Korean U23 coach expressed his admiration for his counterpart: "It's true that the substitutions made by the Japanese team changed the game. I think I should give credit to their coach."
At the Olympics, the coach born in 1967 was still the head coach of Japan. The Asian champions played reasonably well. They only narrowly lost 4-5 to Nigeria (who later won the bronze medal) in the group stage. This defeat led to the Japanese Olympic team's elimination despite earning 4 points in the next two matches (drawing with Colombia and winning against Sweden).
Mr. Makoto continued working for the Japan Football Association (JFA) in roles such as leading the youth team and as an assistant coach for the national team. He was considered for the interim head coach position of the "Samurai Blue" when the JFA dismissed Vahid Halihodzic just before the 2018 World Cup.
Subsequently, Akira Nishino was chosen. Makoto served as the number one assistant coach, participating in Japan's memorable journey at the 2018 World Cup before leaving to try his hand at professional clubs. He managed two mid-table J.League teams, V Varen Nagasaki and Vegalta Sendai, without achieving any notable success.
In 2022, coach Makoto almost coached the Thailand U23 team. The coach, born in 1967, still went to Thailand to work, but not with the national team, but with clubs like Pathum United and Chonburi.
