Following reports from residents who spotted a crocodile in the Nuoc Den canal, in Binh Hung Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh City, authorities launched a manhunt and captured it on the morning of July 21st…

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Hung Hoa Ward, after receiving information from residents about a crocodile appearing in the Nuoc Den canal, the People's Committee assigned people to guard the area to prevent children from playing or fishing in the area, which could endanger themselves. After several days of searching, on the morning of July 21st, the crocodile surfaced in the canal, and the group approached, captured, and removed it from the canal.

The crocodile has been appearing in the Black Water Canal for over two weeks now.

According to reports, the fish is in its mature stage, and the People's Committee of the ward is completing the procedures to hand it over to the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department for care and release back into its natural forest environment.

Task forces have been searching for the crocodile for several days now.

The crocodile was caught on the morning of July 21st.

According to some locals, this crocodile has been appearing in the Black Water Canal for about two weeks now. Normally, the crocodile surfaces and goes to a mound of earth to sunbathe before diving back into the canal. Many children in the area, upon spotting the crocodile, have used fishing rods to lure and tease it, which is very dangerous.
