Recently, the international cruise ship Silver Whisper docked at Ha Long International Cruise Port, bringing 300 European and American tourists to visit and experience the destinations, scenic spots, and culture of Ha Long City. This is the third time the Silver Whisper has returned to Ha Long since the beginning of the year, demonstrating the attractiveness of Quang Ninh to international tourists.
Earlier, two luxury cruise ships, the Seabourn Encore and the Silver Whisper, both registered in the Bahamas, docked at Ha Long International Cruise Port, bringing over 1,200 passengers to Quang Ninh. After docking, tourists participated in tours exploring Ha Long Bay , visiting the city, and exploring cultural and historical sites in Ha Long and neighboring localities. Many tourists enjoyed various activities in Ha Long Bay such as cave exploration, kayaking, and swimming.
With its diverse, synchronized, and modern transportation infrastructure, including air and sea routes, a system of inter-provincial expressways, and especially the Ha Long International Cruise Port, Quang Ninh has the advantage of welcoming international cruise ships to Ha Long. As evidence, from the beginning of 2025 to the present, Quang Ninh has welcomed over 20 international cruise ships, bringing over 26,000 international tourists from various markets in Europe, America, Australia, Northeast Asia, etc., to visit and relax at the unique destinations of Ha Long - Quang Ninh. International tourists have been satisfied with the high-quality experiences and services in the province.
Quang Ninh's tourism sector has identified attracting international tourists, especially cruise ship passengers, as one of its key priorities. The province has directed relevant departments, agencies, and localities to intensify tourism promotion and marketing efforts, develop new products that suit tourist preferences, and diversify the range of international visitors, particularly those from Asia.
According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Pacific World cruise ship, managed and operated by Peace Boat (Japan), is expected to bring approximately 1,600 tourists, mainly Japanese, to Quang Ninh on April 30th.
During the voyage, Ha Long International Cruise Port was the first port of call for the ship after departing from Japan. This also marks the first time Quang Ninh province has welcomed a cruise ship carrying tourists from Japan to Ha Long, opening up opportunities to promote cruise tourism routes connecting Japanese ports with Quang Ninh. Quang Ninh plans to organize a welcoming program for the delegation to Ha Long, including dragon and lion dances, presenting flowers to tourists, and showcasing the friendliness and hospitality of the destination.
This is a positive sign for tourism in Quang Ninh from the Land of the Rising Sun, as Japan has been identified as one of the key international tourist markets for Quang Ninh.
It is projected that in 2025, Quang Ninh will receive approximately 70 cruise ships, bringing nearly 90,000 international tourists. Besides luxury cruise ships already visiting Ha Long such as Celebrity Solstice, Mein Schiff 6, and Westerdam, this year will see the arrival of many new cruise ships such as Brilliant Lady, Luminara, and Pacific World, which plan to bring tourists to Ha Long - Quang Ninh. Notably, around November 2025, it is expected that there will be three weekly cruises from Beihai (China) to Ha Long.
This year, Quang Ninh aims to attract 20 million tourists, including 4.5 million international visitors. With positive signals from international cruise tourism, along with enhanced promotion and marketing efforts to attract diverse sources of tourists from many countries, Quang Ninh will achieve its tourism goals.
