Thin raincoats, although only for temporary use, are still very popular because they are convenient and cheap. Besides that, I also import some thicker raincoats with nicer designs, which are a little more expensive, but customers still buy them because they last longer and are more durable.”

Mr. Pham Dinh Chien (Ward 1, Tan An City) shared: “Previously, whenever it rained lightly, I used to buy cheap, convenient raincoats, but they would tear after only one use. These past few days, with the heavy rain, I decided to invest in a thicker, more durable bat-wing raincoat for 100,000 VND to make going to work easier, more durable, and safer.”

The current market offers a wide variety of styles, from high-end options like full-body rain suits, hooded raincoats, and raincoats for two people, to more common types like batwing or trench coat-style raincoats. Besides the common dark colors, modern raincoats come in a diverse range of colors and feature vibrant, youthful designs to suit various tastes. For children, raincoats with cartoon characters and cute animals are available, starting from 50,000 VND per piece, making them more appealing to kids.

Most raincoats are made of lightweight nylon or PE plastic fabric, with a practical design that provides protection from rain while also being breathable and comfortable for the user. They are priced from 40,000 to 200,000 VND per item, depending on the type. Ms. Pham Thi Be Chin (owner of a clothing repair shop in Hoa Phu commune, Chau Thanh district) shared: “These past few days have been raining unexpectedly and continuously, and many people have come to buy raincoats. Some days I sell a dozen. This year, the raincoat designs are diverse, with eye-catching patterns that suit consumer tastes, making them even easier to sell. Just a few consecutive days of rain and I have to order more stock immediately.”

Crocs footwear is a popular choice for people buying rainwear on e-commerce platforms.

Besides raincoats, items such as boots, sandals, non-slip rain shoes, waterproof bags to protect backpacks, umbrellas, etc., are also in high demand. This year, in particular, the market for waterproof shoes and sandals has seen many new designs, most notably Crocs sandals, with prices ranging from 200,000 VND to over 1 million VND per pair, depending on the model.

Rain boots have also been improved with many convenient designs; among them, the rubber-soled, high-top boots with zippers are popular, priced from 100,000 to 150,000 VND per pair. “I work with dragon fruit in the fields, and when it rains, there’s a lot of flooding and mud. Before, going barefoot or wearing sandals was very uncomfortable because the water would irritate my feet. Now, with these rubber boots, I feel more secure going to work even in the rain; my feet stay dry and I don’t get sores or water damage,” said Mr. Tran Van Thong (Thuan My commune, Chau Thanh district).

Additionally, waterproof glasses are also popular because rain can cause discomfort and danger when rain splashes onto the face and eyes while driving. These glasses can also protect against dust, smoke, and wind on the road. Prices range from 35,000 to 200,000 VND per pair, depending on the type.
