Opening the "Binh Dinh Boxing Night" was an exciting fight between two boxers, Nguyen Thanh Dat (in red) and Tran Duy Anh, in the 54 kg weight category.

On the evening of February 23rd, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province organized the opening ceremony of the "Binh Dinh Boxing Night" program at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Quy Nhon ward).

The program aims to respond to the nationwide movement for physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh and to practically compete in achieving accomplishments to celebrate the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2026); and the 237th anniversary of the victory at Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Director of the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Bui Trung Hieu, said: “The Department, in coordination with relevant units, is pleased to organize the “Binh Dinh Martial Arts Night” program in 2026. This activity aims to build and highlight the image of martial arts schools and styles with a long history of development that are characteristic of our province.”

The performance "The Spirit of Tay Son" was elaborately staged as a sacred tribute to our ancestors who preserved and protected every inch of our homeland.

This contributes to promoting the historical value of Binh Dinh traditional martial arts to friends and tourists from near and far, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of preserving and promoting Binh Dinh traditional martial arts. It is also an opportunity for tourists to learn more about the unique cultural products of the land known as the "Land of Martial Arts and Literature," the birthplace of the national hero Quang Trung – Nguyen Hue.

According to Deputy Director Bui Trung Hieu, Binh Dinh's traditional martial arts have been preserved, practiced, and widely disseminated throughout the country and many countries around the world, becoming a shared pride of the Vietnamese people. In 2024, the Government officially agreed to submit Binh Dinh's traditional martial arts to UNESCO for consideration to be inscribed on the List of Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The "Binh Dinh Martial Arts Night" program will take place over two nights, February 23-24 (the 7th and 8th days of the Lunar New Year 2026) at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Quy Nhon Ward, Binh Dinh Province). Interspersed between the dramatic sparring matches will be performances of the characteristic forms and eighteen weapons of Binh Dinh traditional martial arts, presented by martial arts students from the Binh Dinh Traditional Martial Arts Center and other martial arts schools and clubs in the province.
