Red address for traditional patriotic education
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An province announced that one of the key programs at the 2026 Lotus Village Festival is the announcement of the decision to designate the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area in Kim Lien (Kim Lien Historical Site) as a national tourist area.
With this decision, the Kim Lien Historical Site has been upgraded to a national tourist area, becoming a leading cultural and historical tourism destination in Vietnam. This is considered an important milestone in the development of cultural and historical tourism in the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh.
The Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area in Kim Lien was recognized as a Special National Monument on May 10, 2012. In 2020, the Prime Minister approved the plan for the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the value of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area in Kim Lien, a Special National Monument. Accordingly, the total planned area is 278.86 hectares. The protected area of the monument is 170.13 hectares, including: the Sen village relic cluster (21.5 ha), the Hoang Tru village relic cluster (16.8 ha), the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan (48.2 ha), the Chung mountain relic cluster (83.63 ha), etc.
The planning aims to promote the value of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area, a special national historical site, into a place for educating about patriotic and revolutionary traditions, honoring the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh. This is a cultural and historical tourism complex associated with the typical characteristics of the Nam Dan region and Nghe An province.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An province, the Kim Lien Historical Site receives an average of 1.5 to 2 million visitors annually. This demonstrates the value of the site and the affection of the people and tourists for President Ho Chi Minh.
Recently, after hearing a report on the preparations for organizing a series of key events at the 2026 Lotus Village Festival, Mr. Vo Trong Hai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, said that the opening ceremony in Kim Lien commune will have many delegates in attendance and is expected to attract a large number of local people and tourists.
Mr. Vo Trong Hai requested that relevant agencies and forces pay special attention to reception, logistics, and traffic guidance; and organize the event space in a scientific and rational manner. Kim Lien commune also needs to mobilize the entire community to participate.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province assigned the provincial police to take the lead in developing a comprehensive plan to ensure security and order; coordinating with the Provincial Military Command and communes/wards to synchronously implement the plan for protection, traffic flow management, control, and handling of situations, ensuring absolute safety for the entire series of events.

On average, the Kim Lien Historical Site welcomes approximately 1.5 to 2 million local people and tourists each year who come to offer incense and visit.
