During the meeting, General Phan Van Giang affirmed that Vietnam considers Sweden one of its top important partners in the Nordic region; expressing pleasure at witnessing the positive development of relations between the two countries with the establishment of a Strategic Partnership in science , technology and innovation in June 2025. These are areas where Sweden has global strengths, consistent with Vietnam's policy of considering science, technology and innovation as the driving force for development in the new era.
General Phan Van Giang highly appreciated the results of Vietnam-Sweden defense cooperation in recent years, particularly in the fields of defense industry and telecommunications technology.
General Phan Van Giang expressed his hope that in the future, Ambassador Johan Ndisi would continue to pay attention to promoting defense cooperation between the two countries, creating conditions for the relevant agencies of the Ministries of Defense of the two countries to coordinate in implementing cooperation contents, focusing on exchanging delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations; promoting the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Defense of the two countries, creating a legal framework for implementing specific cooperation; researching and promoting cooperation in training; defense industry...
The Vietnamese Ministry of Defence is ready to receive military personnel from the Swedish Ministry of Defence to study Vietnamese and participate in the International Defence Officials course at Vietnamese academies and schools.
On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang respectfully invites leaders of the Ministry of National Defence and Swedish defence industry enterprises to participate and showcase their products at the 3rd Vietnam International Defence Exhibition, scheduled to be held in December 2026.
For his part, Ambassador Johan Ndisi congratulated General Phan Van Giang on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence.
Highly appreciating Vietnam's development achievements in recent years, Ambassador Johan Ndisi expressed his pleasure at witnessing the remarkable development of cooperative relations between Vietnam and Sweden, especially in the fields of trade and investment.
The Ambassador affirmed that he would strive to coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence to promote the Vietnam-Sweden relationship in general, and the relationship between the two Ministries of Defence in particular, to develop more substantively; and expressed his hope that in the future, the two sides would continue to exchange views and explore possibilities for cooperation based on the needs and interests of each side.
