Leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Can Tho City presented Tet gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
Heartwarming moments for workers.
According to Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, City Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, and Chairman of the Can Tho City Confederation of Labor, this year, from various sources, the city distributed over 20,000 gifts to union members and workers, especially those in difficult circumstances, with a total value of nearly 19 billion VND. A highlight was the "Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party" program and the "Trade Union Tet Market" organized at Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park, creating a joyful atmosphere for union members and workers to celebrate Tet. This is the fourth year that the Can Tho City Confederation of Labor has organized the "Trade Union Tet Market".
This year, the "Trade Union Tet Market" brings together 50 stalls selling quality products and goods at discounted prices of 10-30%, along with a "zero-cost" stall serving workers. Within the framework of the program, the Can Tho City Federation of Labor Unions presented 500 Tet gifts to workers in industrial zones and donated one motorbike to a worker in difficult circumstances. In addition, various levels of trade unions organized many practical activities, such as: a competition showcasing the Trade Union's year-end meal, a traditional banh tet wrapping competition; giving 500 free train and bus tickets to workers returning home for Tet; promoting traffic safety and safe driving; offering free haircuts and organizing folk games…
In the bustling atmosphere leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the joy of the workers is multiplied by each gift and thoughtful greeting. Ms. Le Thi Hau works as a factory worker at Phuong Dong Export Food Processing Co., Ltd. Her husband works as a security guard at the same company, and the couple are raising a child in the third grade. Over the past year, Ms. Hau has been ill, her health has deteriorated, and prolonged treatment has made the family's finances even more difficult. Receiving Tet gifts, Ms. Hau shared: “I am very happy and touched. Over the past time, the Trade Union has always stood by me, providing me with support to overcome difficulties and strive forward.”
In addition to organizing focused programs, the Can Tho City Federation of Labor Unions formed delegations to visit and encourage migrant workers in their rented accommodations; organized year-end union meals; and presented banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) to workers… Along with that, many grassroots unions organized cultural and sports competitions, contributing to creating a joyful atmosphere for union members and workers to celebrate Tet.
Efforts to pay salaries and Tet bonuses.
The Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Federation of Labor Unions directed all levels of trade unions to proactively coordinate with heads of agencies, units, and enterprises to develop plans and strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies on salary payments, bonuses, and year-end welfare benefits. At the same time, trade unions should coordinate with relevant agencies to closely monitor the situation of enterprises owing salaries, social insurance, and health insurance contributions.
Minh Phu Seafood Joint Stock Company - Hau Giang is one of the companies that maintains good welfare policies for its employees. Currently, the company has about 5,200 employees, with an average income of over 9 million VND/person/month. The company implements many support schemes, such as: mid-shift meals, daily transportation for workers, free dormitory for employees living far away… Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of Administration and Human Resources of the company, said: “This Tet holiday, in addition to salary and 13th-month bonus, the company has prepared additional Tet gifts, adding more joy for employees to celebrate a warm Spring Festival.”
At Lac Ty II Co., Ltd., the situation regarding salaries and Tet bonuses for workers is ensured, helping employees feel secure in their work and committed to the company during the peak period at the end of the year. According to the company's leadership, the unit currently has approximately 12,800 employees, with an average salary of 5.9-6.2 million VND per person per month, and maintains regular salary payments on the 10th of each month.
Overall, Tet holiday preparations were ensured in most businesses; the bonus amount varied depending on revenue and profit. Specifically, state-owned limited liability companies had an average bonus of 4.3 million VND; private enterprises averaged 7.3 million VND; and foreign-invested enterprises averaged 11 million VND… Local trade unions also coordinated with business leaders to present thousands of Tet gifts to union members and employees, each worth between 300,000 and 1 million VND.
These practical welfare activities demonstrate the concern of the Can Tho City Trade Union organization, contributing to bringing a warm and meaningful Tet holiday to workers and employees. This, in turn, contributes to building harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations, promoting the sustainable development of businesses.
