Ensure food safety and hygiene

The District Health Center has advised the District People's Committee to issue directive documents; consolidate and improve the District Food Safety Steering Committee; and strengthen management, inspection, supervision, and propaganda to raise awareness, responsibility, and business ethics of food producers and traders. Organize professional training courses for food safety officers in communes and food production, trading, preliminary processing, and processing establishments.

Mr. Luong Van Xuan, Director of the District Health Center, said: The Center has organized interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct surprise inspections of food production and service establishments. Focus on inspecting and monitoring food safety and hygiene at schools with collective kitchens, especially food sources; hygiene conditions in the areas of preliminary processing, preparation, eating, and food sample storage cabinets...

From 2024 to present, interdisciplinary inspection teams at district and commune levels have inspected nearly 300 food production, processing and trading establishments and collective kitchens; discovered and handled 7 establishments for violations, and imposed administrative fines of more than 5 million VND, for violations such as not posting product prices, improper food preservation, etc.

Ms. Lo Thi Ngan, owner of a restaurant providing food services in Sop Cop village, Sop Cop commune, said: The restaurant buys food from reputable establishments in the area and has a contract to ensure food safety. The family also grows vegetables and raises livestock to serve the business. During the processing process, the restaurant conducts a 3-step inspection book to check the ingredients before, during and after processing; the staff always follow the regulations during the food processing process, ensuring food safety and hygiene at the restaurant.

From 2024 to present, nearly 20 direct and integrated propaganda sessions on ensuring food safety and hygiene have been organized; more than 50 media articles have been broadcast on loudspeakers of communes and villages, instructing people to change unhygienic eating habits that affect their health. Disseminate consumer rights; instruct on how to choose and process safe food, with clear origin and source, and not ensuring food safety and hygiene.

Ms. Lo Thi Anh, Kha Nghiu village, Pung Banh commune, shared: After receiving propaganda from specialized agencies, the family has prepared food to ensure that it is well-cooked and water is boiled; kept the kitchen and cooking utensils clean; and used clean water. Thanks to that, the health of herself and her family members is always guaranteed.

To protect consumers' health, Sop Cop district directed specialized agencies to continue organizing training for production and business households and sign commitments to ensure food safety and hygiene. Strengthen management, inspection and examination of food production and business establishments; publicize establishments and individuals that have been punished for violating food safety regulations, in order to warn, deter and prevent illegal food production and business activities.
