"The first time I came to Ho Chi Minh City on a special occasion, I was overwhelmed to see the city filled with red flags with yellow stars. The girls wearing ao dai and conical hats looked very beautiful," Alvin shared.
Sharing the joy of unity
Sharing the joy of many people heading to Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the April 30th holiday, Alvin shared: "Although it was a bit difficult to travel, I feel very happy to have come to Vietnam this time. I plan to take more photos at Tan Dinh Church, watch the parade rehearsal tomorrow...".
At the Thong Nhat Hall, Nguyen Quang Dung (25 years old) and Phung Quang Anh (27 years old, both from Hanoi ) eagerly took photos in front of the podium. Dung boasted that on the evening of April 25, he had seen a preliminary rehearsal of the parade.
"Although it was raining heavily, I felt the close relationship between the army and the people. I witnessed a soldier giving raincoats to people. It was such a small moment but it moved me deeply," Dung said.
Quang Anh shared that they came to Ho Chi Minh City on April 23 because of work, but coincidentally fell in at the time when Ho Chi Minh City was busy preparing for the national reunification day. "Ho Chi Minh City is very vibrant. The people are very enthusiastic. Although I have been to the city named after Uncle Ho many times, this is probably the most special occasion for me because it only happens once every 50 years. We plan to go see fireworks, drones, and take lots of photos during the national concert," Quang Anh said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Vo Thi Bich Phung (36 years old) and her two sisters, Pham Que Nhi (36 years old) and Ngo Thi Tuyet (44 years old, both from Lai Thieu, Binh Duong ) drove to Ho Chi Minh City to join in the atmosphere that only happens once every 50 years.
Bich Phung shared that her family had to arrange a long time for the sisters to have a chance to reunite on this special occasion. "We plan to go to Thong Nhat Hall, Bach Dang Wharf... to join in the atmosphere. On April 30, the sisters will also drive to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the parade," Phung confided.
To make children more patriotic
Sharing the joy of the festival, 16 members including 7 teachers and 9 students from Hoa Mai Kindergarten (Hung Loc commune, Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai province) also booked a bus to Ho Chi Minh City to have fun on this special occasion. Teacher Tran Thi Ngoc Nu said that the 9 students are all children of teachers at her workplace. They traveled as a family with the hope of letting the children experience and know how heroic and meaningful Ho Chi Minh City is on April 30th.
Today we went to the City Theater, Thong Nhat Hall and Bach Dang Wharf to watch the fireworks... On April 30, everyone plans to go to Ho Chi Minh City again to join in the atmosphere of the country's reunification day. We equipped both adults and children with flags and red flag costumes with yellow stars. Ho Chi Minh City is so beautiful, we hope other tourists will also enjoy the experience here on April 30," Ms. Nu shared.
Passing by the Reunification Hall, the children happened to see the soldiers coming to the stage to prepare. The children happily cheered and pointed at them. "When watching clips online and seeing the soldiers in real life, many children told me that when they grow up, they also want to be soldiers. I think this is a special occasion for the children to learn about the history of their country, to kindle a passionate love for the country...", Ms. Nu said.
