On the afternoon of June 29th, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced that, in the remaining months of 2023, it will work with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to promote trade and negotiate the export of fresh coconuts to the United States; and reach an agreement with Japan on new labels for fresh Vietnamese mangoes and dragon fruit exported to Japan, effective from August 1st.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will exchange views with the General Administration of Customs of China to finalize the draft protocol on import requirements for chili peppers and traditional fresh fruits from Vietnam (excluding bananas) into the Chinese market; hold online meetings with the General Administration of Customs of China regarding Orders 248 and 249 to resolve difficulties and obstacles in exports. At the same time, the ministry will organize a reception and working session with the EU inspection team to assess Vietnam's seafood food safety control system and seafood processing enterprises…

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first six months of 2023, Vietnam's exports of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products reached US$24.59 billion, a decrease of 11.1% compared to the same period in 2022. Specifically, major agricultural products increased by 12%; livestock products increased by 26.5%; aquatic products decreased by 27.4%; and major forestry products decreased by 28.2%. Vietnam's main export markets continued to be China, the United States, and Japan. Exports to China accounted for 21.4%, the United States 20.2%, and Japan 7.7%.

According to the Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, seven products/product groups achieved export values ​​exceeding $1 billion in the first six months: coffee, rubber, rice, fruits and vegetables, cashew nuts, shrimp, and wood products. Of these, rice and cashew nuts saw increases in both export volume and value: rice increased by 22.2% in volume and 34.7% in value; cashew nuts increased by 10.5% in volume and 7.7% in value.
