Thi Tuong Lagoon (also known as Ba Tuong Lagoon) is located about 40km from the administrative center of Ca Mau province, next to the Ba Keo canal, which connects to the Gulf of Thailand via the My Binh River. The lagoon borders four communes: Phu My, Hung My, Song Doc, and Tran Van Thoi.

Of these, the largest area is located in Phu My commune. Thi Tuong Lagoon has a surface area of approximately 700 hectares, a length of over 10 km, a width of about 2 km, and a narrowest point of about 800 m. It is divided into three sections: the upper lagoon, the middle lagoon, and the lower lagoon. The lagoon is not deep but always maintains a water level of around 1 meter. This is a remnant of the receding sea and the incomplete process of alluvial deposition in the Ca Mau Peninsula.

Thi Tuong Lagoon is associated with a strange legend: long ago, Mrs. Tuong was one of the first people to settle in Ca Mau. She bravely and resolutely fought day and night to drive away flocks of birds sent by the Tiger God to fill the sea with stones. Because of this, the King of the Sea refused the marriage proposal for the Tiger God's princess. The spaces she guarded remained intact, unburied by stones, allowing fish and shrimp to thrive and sustain the people. Moved by her virtuous deeds, the people named the lagoon after her, which is now known as Thi Tuong Lagoon.

Currently, both banks of the lagoon are covered with lush vegetation. Every day, at dawn and dusk, the scene of fishing on the lagoon becomes bustling with various means of transportation such as boats, nets, seines, traps, and other fishing gear. Especially when night falls, thousands of oil lamps and electric lights shimmer on the lagoon's surface like a lantern festival. Here, visitors can appreciate the fascinating beauty of nature and enjoy the local specialties of fish and shrimp from this riverside region.
