One of the most talked-about, even controversial, topics after episode 7 of "Brotherhood Overcomes a Thousand Obstacles" was the fact that Bang Kieu was successively rejected by three younger artists: Trong Hieu, Neko Le, and Kay Tran.
Bang Kieu successively called upon his younger colleagues Trong Hieu, Neko Le, and Kay Tran, hoping to create a new home for the 3rd performance, but the singer only received refusals. At the same time, Cuong Seven and ST Son Thach almost always received a nod of approval.
What can we learn from Bang Kieu's "challenges"?
In episode 7 of "Brothers Overcoming a Thousand Obstacles," which aired on August 17th, Bang Kieu was one of the two new team captains along with ST Son Thach. During the team formation process, Bang Kieu called out Trong Hieu, Neko Le, and Kay Tran, only to receive a shake of the head in response. Trong Hieu explained that he had already discussed forming a team with another talented contestant, so he had to decline Bang Kieu's request.
Bang Kieu's unfortunate situation has become a topic of discussion on social media, sparking much debate in recent days. Audiences are outraged that younger artists like Trong Hieu, Neko Le, and Kay Tran have rejected a veteran singer like Bang Kieu. Notably, not just one, but three people have done this.

However, looking back at the alliance formation after Performance 1, Trọng Hiếu's Passion and KK teams, along with Neko and Kay Trần, were rejected by other teams. This led to the formation of the alliance between the two teams, which Neko Lê explained was "unwanted by anyone, so we had to team them up."
Previously, in live stage 3 of "Brother, Say Hi," Isaac also faced controversy for rejecting Phap Kieu but then inviting Hurrykng to join his team. Naturally, part of the reason Isaac was attacked by the online community was his seemingly tactless rejection, which could easily hurt Phap Kieu's feelings. Some viewers even accused Isaac of discriminating against Phap Kieu, unaware that the singer himself had previously written Phap Kieu's name on the list of brothers he wanted to team up with in live stage 2.

Similarly, HIEUTHUHAI "ruthlessly" rejected Ali Hoang Duong despite the Voice of Vietnam winner's persistent persuasion, and Duong Domic still refused to accept the offer even though team captain Negav used every tactic to recruit him.
Both "Brother Says Hi" and "Brother Overcoming a Thousand Obstacles" are elimination-style programs, and based on what has transpired, the team with the highest score is usually safe, allowing all members to advance to the next round. This means it's not just an individual competition but sometimes requires collective strategy.
In that situation, the brothers, whether captain or not, had to make calculations to ensure their own safety, even if those tactics sometimes "harmed" others.
The advantage of being sought after.
The most common tactic in both shows is to recruit strong contestants to the same team to gain an advantage in voting, or to find those with songwriting and music production skills, and a wealth of ideas to improve the quality of performances. Without one of these outstanding advantages, the contestants easily find themselves "left behind." And naturally, those who possess both, like Jun Phạm, HIEUTHUHAI, Rhyder, etc., are even more sought after.
As proof, when he witnessed his younger teammates successively rejecting the offer and turning to other teams, Bang Kieu sadly said: "Many of you want to be on a strong team, where you feel safe. Bang Kieu understands. I know that in this program, you have to go through many different emotions."
The three talented contestants that Bang Kieu had his eye on subsequently joined Cuong Seven's team and ST Son Thach's team. Indeed, Cuong Seven's "Stars" team can be said to be the strongest team in the program. And after successfully recruiting Jun Pham and Thanh Duy, this team has made the other contestants even more wary. Rhymastic even commented: "Stars are a formidable opponent. If they maintain their form, they are a contender for the championship, not just a strong opponent anymore."
In particular, Jun Pham is currently leading the overall individual firepower ranking with 1,210 points after Performance 2. Jun Pham joining the Shining Stars team is like giving both of them "wings." For the Shining Stars team or for Jun Pham personally, this decision is only beneficial and not harmful.
Meanwhile, ST Son Thach is currently ranked second in individual firepower with 930 points. And the first person ST Son Thach called upon to form a team was BB Tran, a talented individual who not only has high firepower but also excellent performance skills and ideas.
Conversely, because he couldn't successfully recruit the people he wanted, Bang Kieu's main house subsequently consisted of talented individuals who hadn't been chosen yet: Duy Nhat, Pham Khanh Hung, and Do Hoang Hiep. These three talents were somewhat unremarkable, most likely to be in the danger zone due to their low firepower.

In the "Brother Say Hi" segment of the show, it's clear that guys with music production skills are always in high demand. During the team formation segment in episode 9, which aired a few days ago, when Negav, HIEUTHUHAI, Dương Domic, and Quang Hùng MasterD appeared, the team captains were all eagerly anticipating these guys joining their teams.
When Quang Hung MasterD appeared, team captain Anh Tu Atus nervously said, "I have to have Quang Hung here at all costs." At the same time, Rhyder in the tent next to him expressed, "There's no reason for me to refuse such a talent."
The aforementioned brothers were also highly regarded in the previous rounds. HIEUTHUHAI even confidently stated that no matter which team captain he entered, he would never be rejected. This is true, as HIEUTHUHAI not only consistently received high votes but also possessed excellent music production skills.
Conversely, in episode 9, Song Luan was rejected by Anh Tu Atus's team. And even when stranded on a deserted island, he was the last one called after all the other contestants had found their teams. Anh Tu Atus jokingly suggested that the reason for rejecting Song Luan was to create a challenge and make his seniors laugh. However, it cannot be denied that in the previous rounds, Song Luan hasn't been particularly outstanding in terms of voting (ranked 12th in live stage 3) or any other aspect. He has consistent skills but hasn't yet proven to be a breakout star compared to the general standard.
And initially, Anh Tú Atus's team was also struggling, with no one other than Quang Trung, Song Luân, and Anh Tú Voi choosing them. Faced with this situation, Anh Tú Atus admitted, "In such a tough competition round, they really need a captain who knows how to produce music and create new arrangements."
