From screenings with only a few dozen viewers, each mobile film screening now attracts thousands of audiences. In particular, the screening of the film "Red Rain" has contributed to transforming these screenings into a widespread and meaningful political and cultural event.

From few spectators to packed stadiums.

For over a month now, every evening and weekend, the atmosphere at cultural centers, parks, and community spaces in many communes and wards throughout the province has become much more lively. From very early in the morning, people gather in large numbers, eagerly awaiting the screening of the film "Red Rain." This is a revolutionary war film that made a big impact by recreating the glorious 81-day and 81-night battle at Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.

At the mobile film screenings, the venues were almost completely full of viewers. The atmosphere was solemn yet emotionally charged. For many local residents, it had been a long time since they had attended such a lively, intimate, and meaningful mobile film screening. The films not only evoked historical memories but also touched the emotions of many generations, contributing to fostering patriotism and national pride.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc, a veteran in Tam Phuoc ward, shared: “When the film 'Red Rain' was screened in the area, my family went to see it early to get the best seats. The film was good, the content was touching, and it was free to watch, so everyone was excited. After watching, family members continued to chat and exchange ideas about national history, about the great losses and sacrifices of our ancestors in the struggle to protect the Fatherland.”

Not only the elderly, but also many youth union members, students, and pupils in the province actively participated. Seven mobile film screening teams from the Dong Nai Cultural and Film Center intensified screenings at schools to serve officials, teachers, and students. Through this, the film's content was cleverly integrated into traditional activities, raising awareness, educating, and fostering ideals for the younger generation.

Nguyen Tien Dung, Head of the Film Department at the Dong Nai Cultural and Film Center, said: "The film 'Red Rain' is currently being screened free of charge in 95 communes and wards across the province. Many screening locations have recorded audiences of thousands, demonstrating the strong appeal of mobile film screenings when the right work is selected and the right target audience is served."

On December 4th and 5th alone, seven mobile film screening teams conducted numerous screenings linked to propaganda work in mountainous communes, border areas, ethnic minority communities, schools, industrial zones, and residential areas, attracting over 8,000 viewers. This is clear evidence of the appeal, reach, and tangible effectiveness of mobile film screenings today.

"Organizing free film screenings for people in remote areas has been contributing to narrowing the cultural access gap. People can watch films for free right in their familiar community spaces, and the effectiveness of the promotional activities is much higher than traditional methods," Mr. Dung said.

Spreading cultural and historical values through mobile film screenings.

The revival of mobile film screenings in Dong Nai is not a random occurrence but stems from a systematic approach, proactively innovating content and organizational methods. Films depicting revolutionary history, screened in public cultural spaces, schools, and organizations, have become a bridge connecting communities, evoking memories, fostering pride, and instilling civic responsibility. Each screening is no longer a standalone activity but has become a widespread "political activity."

According to Nguyen Duc Long, team leader of Mobile Film Screening Team No. 6: The team is responsible for screening films along National Highway 13, from the communes of Thien Hung, Tan Tien, Hung Phuoc to Minh Hung, Chon Thanh, Nha Bich, Loc Ninh, and other localities along National Highway 14. Given the large geographical area and many remote locations, the team always proactively coordinates with local authorities to ensure each screening is complete and safe.

"Despite varying conditions, the team members all strive to prepare as thoroughly as possible so that people can watch films with the best quality. This helps to maximize the effectiveness of mobile film screenings, spread cultural and historical values, and meet the increasingly high demands of people at the grassroots level," Mr. Long shared.

According to Nguyen Tien Dung, Head of the Film Department at the Dong Nai Cultural and Film Center, building on the positive reception of the film "Red Rain," the center will continue to select and include more valuable films with profound historical and revolutionary themes in its mobile film screening program. Diversifying the films screened not only meets the growing cultural needs of local people but also helps bring cinema closer to the community. This is also the direction for the Dong Nai mobile film screening program to gradually "awaken," affirming its role and position in the people's spiritual life.

On the evening of December 30th, at Yangtze River Park, the People's Committee of Tam Hiep Ward will hold a free screening of the film "Red Rain". This activity aims to spread historical values, educate about revolutionary traditions, and create a meaningful cultural space for the community to celebrate the 2026 New Year.
