According to Military Today, the Dassault Rafale fighter jet is a product of the French company Dassault Aviation, developed since the 1980s, with the aim of becoming a comprehensive multi-role combat aircraft. The aircraft is designed to simultaneously perform air combat missions, attack targets on land and at sea, and conduct battlefield reconnaissance.

The Rafale is over 15 meters long, has a wingspan of nearly 11 meters, and is over 5 meters tall. Its top speed exceeds 2,200 km/h, its range is approximately 1,850 km, and its service ceiling is nearly 16 km. The aircraft has an empty weight of over 10 tons and a maximum takeoff weight of up to 24.5 tons.

Developed with a delta wing configuration and twin engines, the Rafale stands out thanks to its SPECTRA combat electronics system, which reduces radar cross-sections through intelligent processing algorithms. The aircraft also utilizes the Thales RBE2 multi-function electronically scanned array radar, enhancing its ability to detect and counter a wide range of airborne and ground threats. Thanks to these technologies, the Rafale is considered one of the world's leading fighter jets and serves as the main combat aircraft of the French Air Force.

In combat, the Rafale can undertake a wide range of missions, from reconnaissance and long-range interception to providing fire support for ground forces, deep penetration into enemy territory, and even destroying aircraft carriers or deploying tactical nuclear weapons.

In terms of armament, the Rafale carries a 30mm GIAT 30/M791 cannon with a 125-round ammunition capacity, along with 14 hardpoints allowing for the integration of various weapons such as Magic II air-to-air missiles, Storm Shadow cruise missiles, Exocet anti-ship missiles, or ASMP-A missiles with TN81 warheads having an explosive yield of 100-300 kilotons.

The Dassault Rafale comprises three main variants: the single-seat Rafale C, the two-seat Rafale B, and the Rafale M for the Navy, featuring a reinforced design and carrier-based operational capabilities. The airframe has undergone numerous upgrades and improvements.

The original F1 standard was solely for air combat; the F2 standard added ground attack capabilities, making the Rafale a truly multi-role aircraft; and the F3 standard perfected its strategic combat capabilities by integrating the SCALP EG cruise missile, anti-ship missiles, and even nuclear deterrence with the ASMP A missile.

Subsequently, the F3R standard further enhanced its sensor technology with the advanced RBE2 AESA radar, supporting the Meteor missile and improving the SPECTRA electronic defense system, significantly increasing its air combat and long-range attack capabilities.

The latest upgrade is the F4 standard, with enhancements in data connectivity, AI-assisted piloting, electronic defense capabilities, and integration of next-generation weapons, making the Rafale one of the most advanced fighter jets in Europe today.

The Dassault Rafale is currently operated by a group of countries spanning Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. France is the largest owner, with the full range of Rafale C, B, and M variants for both its air force and navy.

India was the first foreign customer to commission the Rafale and is continuing to expand its fleet for both its air force and navy. In North Africa, Egypt has equipped a significant number of Rafales for precision strike and air defense missions.

In the Gulf region, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates both signed major contracts, making the Rafale a vital part of their air force capabilities. In Europe, Greece and Croatia have acquired Rafales to bolster their air defense capabilities and replace their aging MiG fleets.

In Southeast Asia, Indonesia has signed contracts and is gradually receiving Rafale aircraft, aiming to build a more modern air force. Thus far, Rafale has been commissioned or is in the process of being delivered to eight countries: France, India, Egypt, Qatar, Greece, Croatia, the UAE, and Indonesia.
