On January 3rd, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture , Sports and Tourism (MOCST) held a conference to summarize its work in 2023 and outline key tasks for 2024. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a keynote address.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung stated that in 2023, the culture, sports and tourism sector experienced positive changes and achieved important results in several areas.
According to leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 2024 is a crucial year in achieving the socio -economic development goals set forth in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the period 2021-2025. The global situation is projected to continue to be complex and unpredictable.
In this context, the national culture, sports, and tourism sector needs to further promote its core role in the cause of "Reviving Vietnamese culture in the new era," continuing to effectively implement the six groups of tasks and four groups of solutions for building, preserving, and promoting the unique values of advanced Vietnamese culture, rich in national identity, as directed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 2021 National Culture Conference.

The overarching goal and mission is to "strongly awaken the spirit of patriotism, the will for national self-reliance, and the aspiration for a prosperous and happy country," actively contributing to the nation's efforts to achieve the socio-economic development goals and tasks for 2024.
Revenue of 850,000 billion VND from tourism.
Emphasizing key tasks for 2024, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that, in the field of tourism, the Ministry will strengthen its direction and implementation of measures to ensure the safety of tourists. This includes strengthening management and control of the quality of tourism services, proactively developing plans, and preparing conditions to serve tourists, especially during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Dragon).
In 2024, the goal is to welcome 18 million international tourists and 110 million domestic tourists, with total tourism revenue estimated at 850,000 billion VND.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also submitted to the Prime Minister for promulgation the Planning of the Vietnam Tourism Development System for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045; and the Prime Minister's Directive on comprehensive, rapid and sustainable tourism development.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung stated that the culture, sports, and tourism sector saw positive developments in 2023.
Develop a green tourism action plan for the period 2023-2025 and beyond. Establish evaluation criteria and implement a ranking system for green growth for tourist destinations and tourism businesses in Vietnam; develop a plan to establish tourism promotion offices in several key markets; and plan the implementation of themed tourism marketing campaigns and organize programs to introduce Vietnamese tourism in key markets.
