On January 9-10, at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Hanoi , Vietnam International Innovation Expo 2021 (VIIE 2021) took place with the participation of 150 large-scale, prestigious domestic and international technology enterprises.
The exhibition affirms the creative role of the Vietnamese Government, in which the Ministry of Planning and Investment is the pioneer in mobilizing resources, connecting subjects of the innovation ecosystem to promote growth based on science, technology and new inventions, making Vietnam an innovation destination in the region and the world. Masan High-Tech Materials Joint Stock Company is honored to be selected as one of the typical enterprises participating in this event.
The product display area of Masan High-Tech Materials attracted a lot of attention from guests attending the event. Masan High-Tech Materials is one of the largest integrated industrial mineral and chemical producers in Vietnam. The Nui Phao Polymetallic Mine (Dai Tu District, Thai Nguyen Province) managed and operated by the Company is the first large-scale tungsten mine to be successfully deployed and put into production in the past 20 years. The Nui Phao Mine has been assessed by leading analysts in the mining industry as one of the largest tungsten mines in the world with proven potential ore reserves of 66 million tons (according to the Mineral Exploitation License, there are 83,220,000 tons of tungsten - polymetallic ore).
In recent years, Masan High-Tech Materials has become one of the most renowned mining and high-tech materials manufacturing enterprises domestically and internationally due to its outstanding advantages in mining, mineral refining and high-tech materials manufacturing to meet the diverse needs of heavy industries worldwide.
Thanks to the focus on investing in applying modern technology and gradually mastering the technology, the Company has gradually affirmed its capacity and position in the markets of North America, Europe, Japan and Korea.
Since 2015, Masan High-Tech Materials has established a High-Tech Product Research and Development Center. With the goal of improving product quality to optimize resources, the Company has focused on investing in modern technological lines, training highly qualified human resources, producing value-added products, bringing high export value. In 2017, the Company invested in two more high-tech lines with a capital of over 9 million USD, including: Fluorite refining line and Tungsten thorough recovery line by gravity separation. These were the two most modern lines in the world at that time.
The Company's product lines are key components of global businesses' supply chains, integrating into ongoing innovations in semiconductors, 3D printing, robotics, electric vehicles, renewable energy, medicine and aerospace.
In June 2020, Masan High-Tech Materials completed the acquisition of the global tungsten business of HCStarck Group GmbH, headquartered in Goslar, Germany. The acquisition of HC Starck's tungsten business provides Masan High-Tech Materials with advanced manufacturing centers in each key market region such as NAFTA, EU and APAC with production facilities in Germany, Canada and China; a world-class recycling technology platform, which can be expanded and replicated across all business locations. At the same time, Masan High-Tech Materials has mastered deep processing technology from HCStarck, including extraction technology using caustic soda with high chemical reuse rate; ultra-clean refining technology using chemicals to precipitate impurities and solvent extraction technology to minimize wastewater discharge to the environment.
Following the acquisition of the tungsten business from HC Starck, in November 2020, Masan High-Tech Materials and Mitsubishi Materials Japan completed an agreement to establish a strategic alliance aimed at developing a high-tech tungsten materials platform.
In addition, Masan High-Tech Materials is also a pioneer in using Hololens 2 virtual reality glasses, the latest technology product of Microsoft for production and operation activities. With Hololens virtual reality glasses, although not present on site, experts can still "see reality" and guide direct staff to handle situations easily and skillfully.
According to Mr. Craig Bradshaw, CEO of Masan High-Tech Materials, Masan High-Tech Materials is one of the first few units in Vietnam to own Hololens virtual reality glasses to ensure smooth operations and reduce the impact of Covid-19 when many experts are still stuck outside. This is a clear demonstration of the determination to apply information technology and digital transformation throughout the activities of the Company's Board of Directors.
