'Wherever there's a need, there's youth.'

(PLVN) - In the last days of November 2025, as people across the country turned their attention to Central Vietnam to help overcome the consequences of the floods, the Ho Chi Minh City Student Cultural Center was bustling with activity day and night. Just a few hours after the call for volunteers, more than 1,000 young people registered to participate in sorting and loading relief supplies onto express trucks for transport to the flood-stricken areas. Without any frills or embellishments, one young person simply but sincerely and touchingly said: "Young people have the energy to help our compatriots."

In the central and Tây Nguyên (Central Highlands) provinces, as people tirelessly work to overcome the damage caused by natural disasters, one of the core forces is the youth of the army, police, and youth union members; with the motto that they will only withdraw when the work is finished and when the kitchens of the people are still burning. These officers, soldiers, and youth union members, undeterred by hardship, bravely venture into the most difficult and dangerous areas to transport relief supplies, provide medical care, cook meals for the people, rescue property submerged in mud and floodwaters, and clean up schools and medical facilities. Some youth union members, only 20 years old, with youthful faces, volunteered to go to the heart of the flooded areas while the water was still overflowing, always carrying a piece of paper wrapped in plastic with their name and the phone number of a relative written on it in case of unforeseen circumstances. Of course, such a worst-case scenario is unlikely to happen, but this shows that many young people, driven by national pride and a sense of brotherhood, are willing to sacrifice themselves.

Around the same time, while attending and speaking at an inspirational talk show for young people, the opening event of the Autumn Economic Forum 2025, the largest international event of the year organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee;

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that Vietnam's greatest advantage lies in its 100 million people, especially the intelligent, creative younger generation, who are full of aspirations to contribute to the country.

In all policy decisions, priorities, and development breakthroughs, the younger generation is always placed at the center, with immense trust and expectations. The younger generation is the core, even the most important, force in implementing policies and strategies; they are the decisive factor in achieving the goals of developing a prosperous and powerful nation in the new era. The opportunities for young people to develop their talents, unleash their intellect, and foster innovation are immense, along with their responsibility to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

Therefore, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam is fortunate to have a "golden population structure," however, this "golden population" does not automatically translate into "golden mindset" or "golden capabilities"; instead, the younger generation must proactively strive to keep up with the development trends of the times; constantly learn and train to become individuals who are both talented and virtuous; and start businesses not only to enrich themselves and their families, but also for the future of the entire nation.

The images of dedicated young people participating in disaster relief efforts in Central Vietnam give us faith in a generation that continues to dare to think, dare to act, and dare to take responsibility for the common good; once again affirming the spirit of "wherever youth are needed, youth will be there; whatever is difficult, youth will overcome it."
