DTO - On the morning of March 31, the National Defense and Security Education Council of Military Region 9 held an online conference to summarize the national defense and security education work in 2024 and outline directions and tasks for 2025.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Dat - Commander of Military Region 9, Chairman of the Military Region's National Defense and Security Education Council - presided over the conference. Representatives from provincial departments and agencies attended the conference online at the Dong Thap Provincial Military Command headquarters.

According to the assessment of the Military Region 9 National Defense and Security Education Council, in 2024, with the attention and guidance of the Party Committee and the Command of Military Region 9, the Military Region 9 National Defense and Security Education Council directed the National Defense and Security Education Councils at all levels; agencies, units, and schools to effectively implement national defense and security education, exceeding the set targets and plans.

The entire Military Region 9 organized 610 training courses to update knowledge on national defense and security for various target groups, with over 47,100 participants, exceeding the set target by over 118%; the National Defense and Security Education Centers taught the subject of National Defense and Security Education to over 28,360 students; and political schools, vocational schools, high schools, and continuing education centers taught the subject of National Defense and Security Education to over 442,270 people.

Dong Thap province was assessed by the Military Region 9 National Defense and Security Education Council as one of the provinces that performed well in national defense and security education. Specifically, the province coordinated the implementation of specialized sections and columns to disseminate national defense and security knowledge to the entire population through newspapers and radio, resulting in over 600 news articles and reports; and conducted 868 propaganda campaigns reaching over 51,000 people.

In his directive speech at the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Dat, Commander of Military Region 9, requested that agencies, units, localities, and schools focus on organizing training and refresher courses for lecturers and teachers of national defense and security education; and organizing training in national defense and security knowledge for various target groups. In addition, attention should be paid to consolidating, upgrading, and investing in facilities, equipment, teaching models, training grounds, practice areas, and specialized classrooms to better meet the requirements and tasks of teaching the subject of National Defense and Security Education and providing training in national defense and security knowledge for various target groups…

The Commander of Military Region 9 presented Certificates of Commendation to individuals.

On this occasion, the Commander of Military Region 9 awarded Certificates of Commendation to 6 collectives and 15 individuals for their outstanding achievements in national defense and security education.
