(NADS) - Implementing the voter outreach program before the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly, on May 7-8, 2024, the Bac Lieu Provincial National Assembly delegation, divided into two groups, along with leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, provincial departments and agencies, and leaders of districts, towns, and cities, held meetings with more than 1,000 voters from communes and wards in the province.
*Group No. 1, comprising National Assembly Deputies Tran Thi Hoa Ry - Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council and National Assembly Deputies Le Thi Ngoc Linh, met with voters in Vinh My A commune (Hoa Binh district), Phong Thanh A commune (Gia Rai town), Vinh Phu Dong commune (Phuoc Long district), and Loc Ninh commune (Hong Dan district).
*Group No. 2, comprising National Assembly Deputies Nguyen Huy Thai - Deputy Head of the Bac Lieu Provincial National Assembly Delegation and National Assembly Deputies Tran Thi Thu Dong - Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Associations of Culture and Arts, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, met with voters in Ward 1 (Bac Lieu City), Hung Thanh commune (Vinh Loi district) and Long Dien Tay commune (Dong Hai district).
During the meetings, voters listened to representatives of the provincial National Assembly delegations briefly inform them about the agenda of the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly , scheduled to be held in mid-May 2024. At this session, the National Assembly will consider and approve 10 draft laws and 3 draft resolutions; and provide opinions on 11 draft laws. Voters in communes and wards across districts, towns, and cities have submitted opinions to National Assembly deputies, urging continued attention to the early approval of regulations reducing the age for receiving preferential treatment for the elderly from 80 to 75; reviewing regulations on the exploitation of topsoil (heavy soil) to better suit local conditions, especially in the case of dredging mud. They also raised concerns about policies for war veterans, particularly victims of Agent Orange, as the procedures for receiving benefits for Agent Orange victims still have many shortcomings; and the lack of adequate attention to vocational training for the children and grandchildren of Agent Orange victims. Issues related to promoting education and talent; the fight against corruption; and amendments to several draft laws were also raised by voters. For example, they requested permission to publicly film and photograph court proceedings to ensure transparency.
Issues related to voluntary health insurance participation and medical treatment covered by social insurance were discussed. Voters requested that the National Assembly consider allowing people with health insurance cards to access medical services at the most convenient locations and expand the list of drugs covered by health insurance. They also requested a suitable increase in pensions for retired officials, especially prioritizing those with low pensions. Regarding production, voters believe the State needs to have policies to support aquaculture areas. Low shrimp prices, coupled with rising feed and aquaculture supply costs, mean farmers are not making a profit. The groundwater level for domestic use is decreasing, and dredging of inland canals is necessary to ensure water supply for production…
Following the explanations from departments, agencies, and localities, the representatives of the National Assembly deputies from the province acknowledged all the voters' opinions. Regarding the remaining issues, the delegation noted them and will promptly compile a report for the National Assembly and forward them to the relevant ministries and agencies for answers to the voters as soon as possible.
