According to teachers at tuyensinh247.com, the combined subject exam questions in the 2024 high school graduation exam were within the curriculum, with some subjects including more practical questions, using materials outside of textbooks, and having a high level of differentiation...
Physics: There will be few perfect scores.
According to teacher Pham Quoc Toan: "This year's exam held no surprises for the candidates, closely following the structure of the sample exam issued by the Ministry, and had a high level of differentiation. The exam was manageable for candidates aiming for graduation (easy to get a score of 5), and effectively differentiated candidates using Physics for university admissions (the last 10 questions included 6 difficult questions and 4 very difficult questions)."
The 40 questions are arranged from easy to difficult, primarily covering 12th-grade high school curriculum (90% - 36 questions) and a small portion of 11th-grade material (10% - 4 questions). The score range will mainly be between 6 and 7; few scores above 9; and very few perfect 10s.
Qualitative multiple-choice questions (theory) account for approximately 50%. Highly challenging questions still test deep physics thinking, such as: knowledge related to practical applications, questions involving graphs of mechanical oscillations and alternating current (questions 35 and 40), experimental questions (question 34), and questions about mechanical systems (question 39). Difficult, lengthy questions that require considerable time for conceptual thinking and problem-solving (questions 27, 38, 39, and 40).
Chemistry: Increase the number of practical questions.
According to teacher Pham Thanh Tung, the difficulty level of the Chemistry exam was similar to last year's exam. The exam mainly covered the 12th-grade chemistry curriculum, with some familiar questions from the 11th-grade curriculum, and there were no questions specific to the 10th-grade chemistry curriculum.
The exam reduced the number of computationally intensive questions and increased the number of critical thinking and practical questions. The practical questions focused on real-world issues such as greenhouse gases and the production of explosives and acids.
The exam was easier than in 2023, covering the same range of knowledge. There was a slight differentiation in difficulty in the last 10 questions. The average score this year may be about 0.5 points higher than in 2023.
Biology: Increase the difficulty level of logical reasoning questions.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Anh, candidates can easily score 6-7 points on the Biology exam. The exam consists of 32 theoretical questions (80%) and 8 practical exercises (20%), similar to the structure in the sample exam.
Similar to previous years, the exam questions were mainly based on the 12th grade curriculum (36 questions), with 4 questions from the 11th grade.
The application-level questions focus on topics such as: mechanisms of heredity and variation, population genetics, medical genetics, laws of heredity, and ecology.
Compared to the sample test, the number of questions on mechanisms of heredity and variation, and applications of genetics has been reduced, while the number of questions on laws of heredity and population genetics has been increased.
The application-based questions will reduce the number of calculation-based exercises and increase the number and difficulty level of logical reasoning questions.
History subject: There are questions that draw on information outside of the textbook.
According to teacher Ho Nhu Hien, the 2024 high school graduation exam in History consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. The exam mainly covers the 12th grade curriculum (36 questions), with 4 questions from the 11th grade, including 2 questions that connect knowledge between the 11th and 12th grades. The exam begins to differentiate candidates from question 30, with high differentiation from questions 33 to 40.
Compared to the 2024 sample exam released by the Ministry of Education and Training, the official exam has changes in the way questions are asked, but not in the structure. The exam is accurate, appropriate, and effectively differentiates students from question 30 onwards.
A notable feature of the 2024 History exam is that it includes questions that draw on material outside of the textbook; however, this knowledge is still within the scope of what has been learned and is therefore perfectly appropriate.
With this year's exam, it's easy for candidates to score above 7 points, and above-average candidates will do well up to question 35. To achieve a score of 9 or 10, in addition to thorough preparation of knowledge, candidates need to solve problems quickly and accurately, and maintain a stable mindset.
Geography: The exam was good, not too difficult to get above 7 points.
Commenting on the Geography exam, Mr. Vu Hai Nam - a teacher at the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi - said: Compared to the 2024 sample exam, the official exam closely followed the matrix of the sample exam published by the Ministry of Education and Training, and the content was entirely within the Grade 12 Geography curriculum.
The questions are arranged in increasing order of difficulty, with a mix of theory and practice, making it easy to classify candidates according to their level. The exam includes many questions requiring the use of geographical skills, demanding that candidates apply their research and calculation skills from the subject.
The questions designed to differentiate candidates require students to have coherent thinking, broad social knowledge, the ability to grasp up-to-date current events, strong problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.
The 2024 Geography exam was well-designed and aligned with the curriculum. The exam offered a high degree of differentiation, making it relatively easy for students to achieve a score above 7 points for graduation. Students aiming for high scores should focus on the final questions, which require consistent and long-term practice.
Civics Education (GDCD): The exam features a new question type that students often get wrong.
According to Ms. Doan Thi Vanh Khuyen, the exam clearly differentiated knowledge levels, with difficult questions starting from the high-level application questions. Compared to previous years' high school graduation exams, this year's exam included new question types requiring true/false statements (these are the questions students most often get wrong).
The content mainly focuses on the Grade 12 Civic Education curriculum (36 questions). The exam also includes some questions related to Grade 11 knowledge (4 questions).
The questions cover familiar topics from the 12th grade curriculum: Law enforcement; Citizens' equality in certain areas of life (Marriage and family, Labor, Business); Citizens and fundamental freedoms (The right to inviolability of the body, the right to protection of life and health, etc.); Citizens and democratic rights (The right to complain and denounce; the right to participate in state and social management, etc.).
The questions at the low and high application levels fall into the following topics: Equality in certain areas of social life; Types of legal violations; Fundamental rights of citizens.
The questions are within the basic knowledge range and are not tricky. The higher-level application questions are relatively complex, with many details, requiring candidates to have a solid grasp of theory to correctly analyze the nature of the characters' violations. They demand good thinking skills and quick reflexes in handling situations.
