The Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center has done a good job in its work related to world heritage sites.
Building Thang Long Imperial Citadel into a civilized and respectful tourist destination.
In welcoming visitors, the reception staff always behave courteously, with a friendly, polite, and dedicated attitude in assisting and guiding visitors. The center provides uniforms for all service staff, from security guards and ticket sellers to tour guides and exhibition hall staff, to create a friendly and professional atmosphere for visitors and those working at the heritage site.
The guided tours and explanations have been standardized and utilize advanced new technologies, combining audio, video, and images. Digital support allows visitors to independently explore and interact via screens and automated audio guides. Information about the heritage site has been disseminated through various methods, including: publishing archival documents and records; publishing publications and research findings on the heritage site; and creating a website (https://www.hoangthanhthanglong.vn) as an educational tool connecting the heritage site with the community.
In addition, improving the efficiency of maintaining the landscape and sanitation of the heritage site is also emphasized. Construction units responsible for environmental sanitation in the heritage area, from 19C Hoang Dieu to Hau Lau, the Cua Bac relic site, and the area outside the Vaxuco building, especially at rest stops and service areas, are regularly inspected, supervised, and reminded. During peak periods such as holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and during the Heritage Education Program and night tours, manpower must be concentrated on sanitation, garbage collection, and transportation to designated collection points. Supervisors must conduct regular inspections to ensure the heritage site remains tidy and well-ventilated.
In addition, regular trimming of grass and hedges; periodic pruning of shade trees creates a green, airy, and aesthetically pleasing heritage space; maintaining flower gardens and miniature landscapes at Doan Mon Gate, Kinh Thien Palace, Hau Lau, Cua Bac Gate, outside the Vaxuco building, and the archaeological site at 18 Hoang Dieu Street, with seasonal floral and foliage decorations, ensures that the heritage space always has a fresh and attractive atmosphere for tourists to take photos and check in.
Efforts to bring the historical site Thang Long Imperial Citadel is an attractive destination for tourists.
The Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center has intensified its efforts in promoting, introducing, and developing tourism , alongside improving the quality of human resources and tourism products and services for visitors.
With the goal of making the Heritage site an attractive and important destination on the Vietnamese tourism map as well as in the Hanoi tourism route, the Center has determined that in addition to implementing management, conservation, and restoration activities, it will also develop plans to promote the value of the Heritage site to honor its historical, cultural, and architectural value.
Specifically, at the entrance to the site, there is a Code of Conduct board, information sheets, brochures introducing the heritage site, and staff guide visitors using automated guidance software in multiple languages such as Vietnamese, English, French, Chinese, and Japanese, helping visitors access the heritage site in the most accessible way.
The Center organizes annual events (linked to research results on intangible cultural values) such as: the Spring Festival during the Lunar New Year, the Vietnamese New Year, the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Co Loa Festival, etc. At the same time, it promotes the "Heritage Education" program at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Co Loa Relic Site (implemented by the Center in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Education and Training), creating an attractive playground for students to practice, experience, and learn about history.
The center has also developed the night-time economy with the "Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel" night tour product and supporting activities to meet the needs of domestic and international tourists staying in the capital.
In particular, the Center has applied digital technology to visitor tours. Digitizing exhibition spaces and exhibits in 360-degree and 3D formats, along with virtual tours, allows viewers to use smart devices to learn more, enhancing the appeal of the Heritage site to visitors.
The application of information technology in interactive experiences for tourists includes recreating the Kính Thiên Palace space and selecting some important court ceremonies such as the Royal Court Ceremony or the Imperial Examination during the Lê Dynasty in this space using 3D and virtual reality technology; testing audio guide and tour guide equipment in exhibition areas and revolutionary relics; 3D tours of the Thăng Long Imperial Palace exhibition area and the 18 Hoàng Diệu archaeological site; 3D mapping technology to introduce relics and artifacts on display...
