The examination centers ensure security and safety, creating favorable conditions for candidates to take the exam. |
The exam was of appropriate difficulty and provided a reasonable level of differentiation.
After completing the Literature and Mathematics exams, many candidates left the examination centers in high spirits, having performed quite well. According to many candidates, the exam questions in both subjects closely followed the curriculum, had a moderate level of difficulty, and were suitable for the general level of students. Besides basic questions, the exams also included some application-based questions at medium to high levels to differentiate the candidates' abilities.
At the exam centers of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue and Nguyen Truong To High School, the atmosphere after the math exam was quite cheerful. Many candidates took the opportunity to exchange answers with friends, and parents waiting outside were somewhat relieved to see their children leaving the exam room in a relaxed mood.
Tran Minh Khanh, a student from Nguyen Truong To High School, said: "The math exam wasn't too difficult; most of the knowledge tested was within the scope of what we had reviewed. If you studied thoroughly, you can do quite well. I think I answered about 80% of the questions correctly."
At the exam center at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, Doan Thi Na Ra, a student from the Ethnic Minority Boarding School, also commented that the exam was at a moderate level. “Even though I applied for the humanities/social sciences stream and mathematics isn't my strong point, I was still able to complete most of the questions. I found the exam not too difficult and suitable for my abilities,” Na Ra said.

Meanwhile, Ho Nguyen, a student from Phu Bai High School, assessed this year's math exam as relatively easy. According to Nguyen, the exam had about 3 difficult questions worth approximately 1.5 points in total, which served to differentiate candidates, especially the two probability questions in the short-term section. "I did quite well on the literature exam this morning, and I also achieved the expected results in math this afternoon, so I feel more confident after the first day of exams," Ho Nguyen shared.
According to Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Kieu, Deputy Head of the Mathematics Department at Thua Luu High School, the mathematics exam closely followed the 2018 General Education Program, consisting of three parts with a fairly clear differentiation in difficulty levels. The exam focused on assessing students' thinking skills and problem-solving abilities through real-world situations such as profit problems, applications of integration, combinations, and probability. A notable point is that the exam required students to apply comprehensive knowledge and modeling skills instead of simply applying formulas mechanically. Maintaining new multiple-choice question formats also helped to limit the practice of using shortcuts or guessing answers.
Regarding the difficulty of the exam, Ms. Kieu believes that the new structure no longer offers many opportunities to score points through luck. The high-level application questions will determine scores of 8.5 points or higher, requiring comprehensive thinking and flexible application of various topics such as spatial geometry, integration, algebra, combinations, and probability. Students achieving 8 points or higher will already be highly commendable, while perfect scores will be rare. Nevertheless, the average score for mathematics this year is predicted to be slightly higher than last year.
The examination venues are safe and comply with regulations.
This year, Hue has 14,150 registered candidates, distributed across 37 examination centers with 622 examination rooms. The Department of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) mobilized 1,968 officials and teachers to serve as invigilators, along with 468 personnel from security and medical forces to support the examination. 13,932 out of 13,958 candidates took the Literature exam, achieving a participation rate of 99.81%; 13,837 out of 13,867 candidates took the Mathematics exam, achieving a participation rate of 99.78%. The majority of absent candidates were independent candidates who had registered but did not take the exam.
Observations at the examination sites showed that the inspection of candidates' personal belongings was carried out rigorously before entering the examination room. Candidates were reminded to only bring permitted items and absolutely not to bring information technology devices or communication equipment into the examination area; they were also instructed to deposit their phones and personal belongings in the designated areas.

This is the first year implementing the two-tiered local government model. Departments, agencies, and localities have closely coordinated in organizing the exam; ensuring security, traffic safety, electricity, water, healthcare, and other necessary conditions at the examination sites. For candidates in remote areas, localities and volunteer forces continue to provide support with transportation, accommodation, and other necessary conditions so that they can confidently take the exam.
Commenting on the first day of the 2026 High School Graduation Examination, Mr. Nguyen Tan, Director of the Department of Education and Training, said that the organization of the exams for the two subjects, Literature and Mathematics, took place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations. The organizational stages were implemented meticulously, ensuring security and safety. Facilities, equipment, and other conditions for the exam were fully and thoughtfully prepared.
“Throughout the first day of the exam, there were no errors related to the printing, transportation, and use of exam papers; no cases of invigilators or candidates violating regulations were recorded. Along with favorable weather, these factors contributed to helping candidates feel secure and confident in completing the exam,” Mr. Nguyen Tan emphasized.
Tomorrow morning, June 12th, candidates will complete the 2026 High School Graduation Examination with an elective exam consisting of two subjects from those studied in grade 12. The exam papers for the first subject will be distributed at 7:30 AM, and for the second subject at 8:35 AM; each subject has a 50-minute time limit.
