Visitors to Levi, Finland this summer can participate in a week-long gold hunt, with the prize being a gold bar worth 20,000 Euros, equivalent to approximately 23,300 USD.
According to Visit Levi, the Midnight Sun Hunt program will begin on June 18th at the Levi Visitor Center. Participants can register and receive initial information there, then follow the published clues to explore routes, attractions, and landmarks in the area.
Levi is a resort town in northern Finland, located on the Arctic Circle. It's famous for its winter ski slopes and the aurora borealis, but in summer it features the midnight sun phenomenon, where daylight lasts almost 24 hours at certain times.

The organizers stated that the gold bar could be found based on any clue. Additional clues will be released throughout the summer, gradually making the location of the hidden prize easier to pinpoint. The final clue is expected to be revealed on August 22nd.
Satu Pesonen, CEO of Visit Levi, said Levi is best known for its winter season, while the northern summer remains an undiscovered experience for many visitors. She believes this program aims to provide more reasons for tourists to visit Levi when the sun doesn't set and the hilly landscape reveals a different facet.
The Midnight Sun Hunt is organized in collaboration with Agnico Eagle Finland, a gold mining company based in Kittilä, and Levi Ski Resort. The organizers advise participants to move responsibly, only in designated areas, and respect the natural environment. The gold hunt does not require digging or altering the terrain.
