The textile and garment industry has proposed several solutions to maintain export growth.

Despite facing numerous challenges from slowing global demand, fluctuating logistics and energy costs, the textile and garment industry still aims to maintain its export growth momentum in 2026.

According to the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association, the industry aims to achieve approximately US$49 billion, equivalent to a growth rate of about 6% this year. To maintain this growth momentum, focusing on improving quality and added value, the key solution is to develop domestic sources of raw materials and components to reduce dependence on imports, meet rules of origin, and effectively utilize free trade agreements. Simultaneously, it aims to promote investment in specialized industrial zones and improve the domestic supply chain. The Association also recommends that regulatory agencies stabilize the supply of petroleum products, contributing to reducing input costs for businesses. Furthermore, the industry will continue to promote market diversification, targeting customers and products through national trade promotion programs.

By 2026, the industry will have four national trade promotion programs, facilitating the expansion of export markets. Initiatives such as developing a national brand logo and a digital platform for developing overseas markets are expected to support businesses in improving their access to international markets.

Currently, Vietnamese textiles and garments are exported to more than 130 countries and territories, with major markets such as the United States, the EU, Japan, South Korea, China, and ASEAN accounting for approximately 90% of the total export value. The industry maintains a trade surplus of over $20 billion, continuing to make a significant contribution to the trade balance, but the need to enhance sustainability and self-sufficiency in supply is becoming increasingly urgent in the coming period.
