"Going to the people for community work, you'll find a wife" - Destiny from the hearts of the people.

Over the years, the civilian outreach work of the 5th Division has not only contributed to maintaining political security and social order, and strengthening military-civilian solidarity, but through it, many officers and soldiers have also found their "other half."

Recounting his love story, Captain Nguyen Dinh Huu - Political Officer of Company 10, Battalion 3, Regiment 4 - said that in 2019, amidst the vibrant atmosphere of civilian outreach work in Phan commune, Duong Minh Chau district, former Tay Ninh province (now Duong Minh Chau commune), he was assigned by his unit to stay at the home of Ms. Phan Kim Loan.

In the early days, the shared living space was still unfamiliar, but the simplicity and sincerity of the local people, especially Loan's family, helped him quickly integrate.

Throughout his assignment, Mr. Huu not only excelled in his professional duties but also actively helped Ms. Loan's family and neighbors. He worked alongside them in the fields and gardens, listened to their thoughts and aspirations, and shared their life's difficulties.

Ms. Loan shared: “The people here all appreciate and provide the best conditions for the officers and soldiers to carry out their duties during their time in the local community outreach program. In Mr. Huu, I sense his enthusiasm, responsibility, and simple, genuine heart. The intimate conversations after work, the times we helped with household chores, gradually brought us closer, creating an invisible but strong and profound bond.”

Following that community outreach campaign, the two officially confirmed their long-term relationship, and their love blossomed into a warm and happy wedding in 2022. Their joy doubled when their little family welcomed a handsome and adorable baby boy in 2023.

Ms. Loan said: “I never thought that through community outreach work I would find my life partner. I sense in him a sincerity, simplicity, warmth, and a constant enthusiasm to help others. I am truly grateful that life brought him to me in such a special way.”

Due to the nature of his combat readiness training duties, Hữu often had to work far from home, leaving him little time to spend with his family. During his absences, all the family burdens, from caring for the young children to managing household chores, fell on Loan's shoulders.

"Being the wife of a soldier can sometimes make me feel sad and lonely, especially when the children are sick and there's no one to share the burden. Despite the hardships and challenges, I always try my best so my husband can focus on completing his duties," shared Ms. Loan.

It can be said that the story of Captain Nguyen Dinh Huu and Ms. Phan Kim Loan, who "got married while doing community outreach," is not only a personal love story but also a beautiful symbol of the close and affectionate bond between the military and the people.
