Book a service

Baby stroller delivery service

Vietnam Airlines offers free transportation of baby strollers (for children under 2 years old) as checked baggage or carry-on baggage. The stroller must fit in the overhead compartment. Passengers should contact a Vietnam Airlines ticket office to book this service at least 24 hours before departure. Passengers should arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time to ensure sufficient time for check-in.

Baby bassinet service on the flight

Bassinet service is provided free of charge on flights for infants under 2 years old and weighing less than 11kg. Due to the limited number of bassinets available on each flight, Vietnam Airlines will prioritize advance bookings. Passengers need to book a bassinet for their child in advance:

Special meal service for children

Vietnam Airlines offers complimentary special meals for children (under 2 years old and from 2 to under 12 years old). Passengers are advised to find out more about the Special Meal and book the service in advance for a more complete flying experience. Special meals can be booked through one of the following methods:

• During the ticket purchase process on the Vietnam Airlines website:
• After the ticket has been issued, passengers access the "Manage Booking" section - "Purchase Additional Services" - "Special Services" and select a suitable meal.
• Contact Vietnam Airlines ticket offices or the Customer Care Center at 19001100 at least 24 hours before departure time.

Additionally, Vietnam Airlines allows passengers to prepare and bring their own meals on flights. However, meals must comply with regulations and meet Vietnam Airlines' carry-on baggage standards. Passengers are advised to refer to additional information regarding restricted items and liquids on board.

Unaccompanied minor service

According to Vietnam Airlines regulations, children aged 2 to under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. If a child is traveling without an accompanying adult, please book the unaccompanied minor service in advance.

Important information

• Vietnam Airlines does not accept infants under 7 days old or infants requiring incubators due to premature birth or health reasons.
• Children must have their health confirmed before the flight in case they require special medical care. Please refer to the information regarding passengers requiring health confirmation for further details.
• Vietnam Airlines does not provide separate seats for children under 2 years old, so children must sit in the same seat as an adult.

Conditions for accompanying adults with children under 14 years old.

Vietnam Airlines does not apply any conditions for passengers traveling with children over 14 years old. For passengers traveling with children under 14 years old, the general and specific conditions for the itinerary below must be met:

General conditions

Passengers traveling with children must meet the following general conditions:

• Passengers must be healthy individuals aged 18 or older (as of the flight departure date), traveling in the same service class as children, not requiring special services (except for special meal services), and not traveling with passengers with disabilities;
• Having sufficient physical and mental health to understand safety and care instructions, and to assist children in emergencies;
• Pregnant women traveling with children should note the following requirements:
  • Excludes the following cases: pregnancy achieved through artificial insemination, undetermined gestational age or expected delivery date, previous multiple pregnancies, and potential special treatments during pregnancy;
  • If traveling with children under 2 years old, pregnant women must be less than 32 weeks pregnant.
  • If traveling with children aged 2 to under 12 years old, pregnant women must be less than 36 weeks pregnant.
• An adult accompanying the child:
  • Maximum of 1 child under 2 years old;
  • Maximum of 2 children aged 2 to under 6 years old;
  • Maximum of 1 child under 2 years old and 1 child between 2 and under 6 years old;
  • Children aged 6 and above: No limit on the number of children;
  • When the number of children accompanying a passenger over 18 years old exceeds the above standard, please contact a Vietnam Airlines ticket office/agent to pre-book the Accompanying Cabin Crew Service.

Terms and conditions apply to domestic routes within Vietnam.

The person accompanying the child does not have to be the parent/guardian, and no authorization letter from the parent/guardian is required.

Terms and conditions apply to international journeys.

For children of Vietnamese nationality , accompanying passengers must meet the general conditions mentioned above and the following conditions:

• On international flights to Vietnam, the accompanying person does not necessarily have to be a parent/guardian/authorized person.
• On international flights from Vietnam, the accompanying person must be the parent/guardian/authorized person with documentation proving their relationship with the child (birth certificate, household registration book, or power of attorney).

For children of foreign nationality or stateless persons , accompanying passengers must meet the general conditions mentioned above and the following conditions:

• On international flights to Vietnam, the accompanying person must be the parent/guardian/authorized person with documentation proving their relationship with the child (birth certificate, household registration book, or power of attorney).
• On international flights from Vietnam, the accompanying person is not required to be a parent/guardian/authorized person, unless the destination country has different regulations.

Preparing before the flight

Identification documents

Passengers and accompanying children need to have all necessary identification documents ready before the flight. Please refer to the Document Requirements section for the best possible travel experience with Vietnam Airlines.

Free baggage allowance for children under 2 years old.

Vietnam Airlines' young passengers always enjoy certain baggage allowances. Carry-on baggage for children under 2 years old includes one piece of luggage not exceeding 3kg (including food, diapers, and formula) and one foldable stroller/baby carrier that fits in the overhead compartment. In case the overhead compartment is full, the stroller/baby carrier can be transported as checked baggage (free of charge).

Checked baggage for children under 2 years old (not occupying a separate seat) is free:

• • Travel to/from the Americas: 1 piece of luggage weighing a maximum of 23kg (total dimensions not exceeding 115cm) and one foldable trolley.

• Other options: 1 piece of luggage weighing a maximum of 10kg (total dimensions not exceeding 115cm) and one foldable stroller. For tickets without a free baggage allowance, children under 2 years old are allowed one foldable stroller (free of charge).

Airfare prices for children

Infants under 2 years old, without their own seat, are charged 10% of the adult fare. Children aged 2 to under 12 years old:

• On domestic routes within Vietnam, the fare is 90% of the adult fare.
• On international routes, the fare is 75% of the adult fare.

Children aged 12 and above are charged the adult fare.

How to calculate the age of passengers

• Children from 7 days to under 2 years old: calculated based on the departure date of each flight segment;
• Children aged 2 to under 12 years old: calculated as of the departure date of the first flight segment of the journey;
• Adults aged 12 and above: as of the departure date of the first flight segment of the journey.

Passengers traveling with children should arrive at the airport approximately two hours before departure and have all necessary documents ready for check-in.
