Book service

Baby stroller transportation service

Vietnam Airlines transports baby strollers (under 2 years old) free of charge as checked or carry-on baggage. The stroller must fit in the luggage compartment in the passenger cabin. Passengers should contact Vietnam Airlines ticket offices to book the service at least 24 hours before departure. Passengers should be at the airport at least 02 hours before the scheduled departure time to ensure enough time for check-in procedures.

Baby bassinet service on flights

Bassinet service is provided free of charge for infants under 2 years old and weighing less than 11kg. Due to the limited number of bassinets on each flight, Vietnam Airlines will prioritize pre-booked requests. Passengers need to pre-book bassinet service:

Special meals for children

Vietnam Airlines offers free special meals for children (under 2 years old and from 2 to under 12 years old). Passengers are requested to find out more about Special Meals and book the service in advance to enjoy a more complete flight experience. Special Meals can be booked in one of the following ways:

• During the ticket purchase process on Vietnam Airlines website:
• After issuing the ticket, passengers access the "Manage booking" - "Buy additional services" - "Special services" section and choose the appropriate meal.
• Contact Vietnam Airlines ticket office or Customer Care Center at 19001100 at least 24 hours before departure time.

In addition, Vietnam Airlines allows passengers to prepare and bring their own meals on flights. However, the meals must meet the regulations and be suitable for Vietnam Airlines' carry-on baggage standards. Passengers should refer to the information on restricted items and liquids on flights.

Unaccompanied minor service

According to Vietnam Airlines regulations, children from 2 to under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. In case the child is not accompanied, please book the unaccompanied minor service in advance.

Note

• Vietnam Airlines does not accept transport of children under 7 days old or children who must be kept in incubators due to premature birth or for health reasons.
• Children must be medically cleared prior to travel in case of special medical needs. Please refer to the information on passengers requiring medical clearance.
• Vietnam Airlines does not provide separate seats for children under 2 years old, so children must sit in the same seat as an adult.

Conditions for people traveling with children under 14 years old

Vietnam Airlines does not apply conditions to passengers traveling with children over 14 years old. In case of traveling with children under 14 years old, passengers must meet the general and specific conditions according to the itinerary below:

General conditions

Passengers traveling with children must meet the following general conditions:

• Passengers are healthy people aged 18 years or older (as of the flight departure date), traveling in the same class of service as children and not requiring Special Services (except Special Meal Services), and not traveling with disabled passengers;
• Be physically and mentally fit to understand safety instructions and care for and assist children in emergencies;
• Pregnant women traveling with children should note the following requirements:
  • Not in the following cases: pregnancy by artificial insemination, undetermined pregnancy period or expected date of birth, previously had multiple pregnancies, may have had special treatments during pregnancy;
  • If traveling with children under 2 years old, pregnant women must be less than 32 weeks pregnant;
  • If traveling with children from 2 years old to under 12 years old, pregnant women must have a gestational age of less than 36 weeks;
• One accompanying adult:
  • Maximum 01 child under 02 years old;
  • Maximum 02 children from 02 years old to under 06 years old;
  • Maximum 01 child under 02 years old and 01 child from 02 years old to under 06 years old;
  • Children 6 years and older: Unlimited number;
  • When the number of children traveling with a passenger over 18 years old exceeds the above standard, please contact Vietnam Airlines ticket office/agent to book the Accompanying Flight Attendant Service in advance.

Conditions apply on domestic Vietnam routes

The person accompanying the child does not have to be a parent/guardian and does not require written authorization from the parent/guardian.

Conditions apply on international journeys

For children with Vietnamese nationality , accompanying passengers must meet the above general conditions and the following conditions:

• On international flights to Vietnam, the accompanying person is not required to be a parent/guardian/authorized person.
• On flights from Vietnam to international destinations, the accompanying person must be the parent/guardian/authorized person and have documents proving the relationship with the child (birth certificate, family register or power of attorney).

For children with foreign nationality or without nationality , accompanying passengers must meet the general conditions above and the following conditions:

• On international flights to Vietnam, the accompanying person must be the parent/guardian/authorized person and have documents proving the relationship with the child (birth certificate, family register or power of attorney).
• On international flights from Vietnam, the accompanying person is not required to be a parent/guardian/authorized person unless otherwise specified by the destination country.

Identity documents

Free baggage allowance for children under 2 years old

Young passengers of Vietnam Airlines always enjoy certain baggage benefits. Carry-on baggage for children under 2 years old includes 01 piece of baggage not exceeding 3kg (including food, diapers and milk) and 01 foldable stroller/baby carriage that fits the size of the baggage compartment on the aircraft. In case the baggage compartment is full, the stroller/baby carriage will be transported as checked baggage (free of charge).

Checked baggage for children under 2 years old (not occupying a separate seat) is free of charge:

• • Itinerary from/to America: 01 piece of luggage up to 23kg (total 3 dimensions not exceeding 115cm) and one foldable stroller.

• Other itineraries: 01 piece of luggage up to 10kg (total dimensions of 3 dimensions not exceeding 115cm) and one foldable stroller. For tickets without free baggage allowance, children under 02 years old are allowed to bring one foldable stroller (free of charge).

Buy plane tickets for children

Airfare for children

Infants under 2 years old, not occupying a seat, are charged 10% of the adult fare. Children from 2 years old to under 12 years old:

• On domestic routes in Vietnam, the fare is 90% of the adult fare;
• On international routes, 75% of adult fare applies.

Children 12 years of age and older are charged adult fares.

How to calculate passenger age

• Children from 07 days to under 2 years old: calculated according to the departure date of each flight;
• Children from 2 years old to under 12 years old: calculated as of the departure date of the first flight segment of the journey;
• Adults 12 years and older: as of the date of departure of the first flight segment of the journey.

Passengers traveling with children should be at the airport about 2 hours before departure and have all necessary documents ready for check-in.
