Among many options, "green" tourism with "green destinations" continues to be a popular choice for many tourists. Following this trend, several "green destinations" in Thanh Hoa province are constantly striving to innovate their products and improve service quality to attract tourists.
Ben En National Park (Nhu Thanh) - a "green destination" loved by tourists for its experiences connected with pristine nature.
Over the past two years, Ben En National Park (Nhu Thanh District) has become known as a green destination, featuring a diverse mix of hills, mountains, rivers, streams, and lakes. Located 9km west of Nhu Thanh District center, it covers a total natural area of nearly 15,000 hectares. Its most prominent features are the evergreen tropical forest ecosystem on lowlands and limestone mountains, as well as the river, stream, and lake ecosystems. Visitors are particularly delighted by the experience of taking a boat trip to admire Song Muc Lake – an ideal conservation and development area for aquatic species and freshwater fish. To meet the needs of tourists, since 2023, the Ben En National Park Management Board has developed additional nature-based experiential activities on the botanical island, which have been well-received and highly appreciated by visitors. During the five-day holiday period of April 30th and May 1st alone, this place welcomed and served more than 4,000 tourists.
According to Le Cong Cuong, Director of the Ben En National Park Management Board: “Green tourism is not only a trend but also an essential requirement for Ben En National Park to develop sustainable tourism in the future. To orient and build Ben En National Park into one of the most attractive, professional, and diverse green tourism destinations with unique characteristics, we have developed the “Ecological, Resort, and Recreational Tourism Project in the Ben En National Park Special Forest Area, giai đoạn 2021-2030”. This project focuses on developing several types and products of tourism such as: ecotourism, entertainment, community tourism; cultural, historical, and spiritual tourism; health and wellness tourism; adventure tourism... The goal is to develop ecotourism activities associated with the conservation and promotion of natural resources and biodiversity, bringing benefits to the local community, while contributing to strengthening the ability to adapt to and effectively respond to climate change.” after".
For eco-tourism enthusiasts, besides Ben En National Park, Thanh Hoa offers many other options such as: Pu Luong (Ba Thuoc); Ma village (Thuong Xuan); Golden Cow farm (Thuong Xuan); Yen Trung tourist village (Yen Dinh); high-tech fruit farming models (Thach Thanh, Tho Xuan)... In particular, the Pu Luong community-based ecotourism area is increasingly establishing itself as a "green destination" thanks to its natural landscape and resort architecture closely linked to local culture and nature. As a result, in the first six months of the year alone, it welcomed nearly 140,000 visitors, including 34,750 international tourists; revenue is estimated at over 209 billion VND.
It can be said that, along with the effective implementation of planning and planning management by state management agencies, businesses are the most important entities in creating "green destinations" and green experiences for tourists. "Creating a 'green destination' requires significant funding, time, and effort compared to a conventional tourism product. However, understanding the value of sustainable community-based ecotourism development, most resorts in Pu Luong have been seriously investing in green tourism development. Therefore, investors are very hopeful that all levels of government and local authorities will pay attention, provide guidance, and create a healthy development environment so that businesses can continue to strive to make Thanh Hoa tourism not only a choice for domestic tourists but also a favorite destination for international visitors," shared Mr. Do Duc Manh, Director of Pu Luong Eco Garden Resort (Ba Thuoc).
With its existing potential and strengths, Thanh Hoa has and is facing many great opportunities to promote green tourism development. However, for businesses to accelerate development, they need support from state management agencies and local authorities in creating favorable conditions, environments, and policies for green tourism development. First and foremost, this includes guiding product development, sharing data, and forecasting green tourism... so that businesses can refer to it, build products, and create an effective and sustainable green tourism environment.
