Contributing to poverty reduction and economic growth.
Speaking at the celebration, Mr. Tuy Bunsereyrotmony, Deputy Governor of Kratie Province, said that Kratie Province is located in northeastern Cambodia, 340 km from the capital Phnom Penh. Kratie covers an area of more than 11,000 km², with 7 cities/districts, 48 communes, and 327 villages, with a total population of over 444,000 people (103,678 families), and a population density of 40 people/km².
According to Mr. Tuy Bunsereyrotmony, in the Kratie area, there are 16 companies from Vietnam that have planted 32,273 hectares of rubber, of which 4 member companies of VRG (Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber, Dau Tieng Kratie Rubber, Dong Phu - Kratie Rubber and VKETI Company Limited) have planted more than 17,000 hectares of rubber and thousands of hectares of other crops.
"The operations of Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company are in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Furthermore, the company has contributed alongside the Royal Government of Cambodia to promoting Cambodia's economic growth and poverty reduction, as well as contributing to the development of Kratie province by participating in infrastructure construction and contributing to the budget," said Mr. Tuy Bunsereyrotmony.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Yim Chhayly
Mr. Yim Chhayly also affirmed that, in addition to carrying out production tasks, Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company has also built various facilities over the past 15 years (2008 - 2023): farm offices, worker housing, schools for workers' children, medical stations, temples, clean water systems, electricity for daily life, and roads... The company has also provided professional training for Cambodian workers and has strictly complied with Cambodian labor laws and other relevant regulations.
"On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, I would like to commend the efforts of Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company and all Vietnamese companies that have invested in the rubber plantation sector. These companies have cooperated very closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Environment, and other relevant agencies of Cambodia to contribute to the Royal Government of Cambodia in promoting economic growth and helping to alleviate poverty for the Cambodian people," Mr. Yim Chhayly emphasized, while affirming that the Royal Government of Cambodia will continue to create the most favorable conditions for VRG-affiliated rubber companies and Vietnamese companies investing in Cambodia to develop stably and sustainably.
The results have been very significant.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang affirmed that economic cooperation is a key focus that the high-level leaders of Vietnam and Cambodia are interested in promoting; including the investment, production, and business activities of 16 rubber companies under VRG in general and Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company in particular in Cambodia.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang, the rubber tree planting project of Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company is being implemented in a remote and isolated area of Kratie province. Fifteen years ago, this was a desolate area with a very sparse population; the socio-economic conditions in this region were almost undeveloped; infrastructure had not been invested in, and the people mainly lived by shifting cultivation.

To date, after 15 years of investment, construction, and development, Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company has made a significant contribution to transforming the landscape of the project area, accelerating local economic development, improving rural infrastructure, and creating stable jobs and incomes for local people. Furthermore, the company has fostered a settled farming and settlement culture with an industrial work ethic among Cambodian workers in the project area.
With approximately 5,000 hectares of rubber trees currently in the harvesting stage, Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company is providing employment for nearly 1,000 workers both within and outside Kratie province, with an average salary of 340 USD per person per month. Despite facing many difficulties due to the volatile and sometimes low prices of rubber latex on the world market, the company's revenue continues to increase year after year, reaching 11.6 million USD in 2022 and a profit of 803,000 USD.
Over the past 15 years, the company has fulfilled its tax obligations to the Cambodian government, paying over US$2.6 million. In addition, the company has actively participated in social welfare activities both within and outside the project area. As of the end of 2022, the company had contributed approximately US$722,000 to social welfare activities in the project area and charitable activities initiated by the Cambodian government. The company also consistently cares for, builds, and fosters good relationships with local authorities in the project area, which has been recognized and highly appreciated by the Cambodian side.
"It can be affirmed that the investment activities of Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company in the past have yielded very significant results and successes… The above-mentioned actions and results of the company have been and are making an important contribution to promoting the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia to develop further according to the motto 'good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability'," Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang said.
Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia has been, is, and will continue to support the investment and business activities of Vietnamese enterprises in Cambodia, including Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company. He also expressed his hope that the company will continue to develop strongly and always fulfill its obligations to the Cambodian government, constantly improve the lives of its employees, maintain and promote good cooperative relations with the authorities at all levels of Kratie province, contributing to the development of the good economic cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL TASKS
Also at the celebration, Mr. Le Thanh Hung, General Director of VRG, shared that from the very beginning, VRG's leadership determined that the rubber development program in Cambodia and Laos was not only carried out for economic purposes but also as a political mission. VRG's projects in these two countries have played a significant role in strengthening the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. And Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Plantation also carries that noble mission.
"On behalf of VRG's leadership, I would like to express my gratitude to the unit's first staff members who overcame difficulties to cultivate rubber trees in Cambodia. I would like to sincerely thank the leaders of the Vietnamese and Cambodian Parties and States for their attention and support to VRG's projects in general and Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber in particular," Mr. Le Thanh Hung expressed.
