From a revolutionary homeland to the qualities of an exemplary soldier.

Born and raised in Dai Dong commune, formerly Thach That district (now Thach That commune, Hanoi), Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen was nurtured from an early age in an environment rich in revolutionary traditions. It was this homeland that instilled in him a patriotic spirit, a sense of responsibility to the community, and an unwavering desire to contribute.

In May 1972, at the age of 20, the outstanding young man Vu Xuan Chuyen enlisted in the army, directly participating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, contributing to the great victory of the nation. After the reunification of the country, he continued to serve in the Army, always completing all assigned tasks well and excellently. In December 1993, due to the severe effects of Agent Orange and declining health (61% disability), he left the army and returned to his hometown.

Returning to civilian life, despite suffering from many illnesses, he always kept in mind the importance of preserving and promoting the qualities of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army, living a model life, being responsible, and setting an example through concrete actions.

With the spirit of "as long as I have the strength, I will continue to contribute," Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen actively participates in local social work, holding various positions such as: Party Committee member of the village branch, member of the Front Committee, and representative of the 18th term of the Commune People's Council (2011-2016). Currently, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Hanoi City Association of Veteran Entrepreneurs.

Despite being over 70 years old and having only about 39% of his health remaining, in every position he holds, he always sets a good example, is dedicated, and fulfills his responsibilities and duties well. For Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen, participating in social work is not only a responsibility but also a joy, a way to continue serving his homeland, comrades, and the people.

Economic development must be linked to creating livelihoods for workers.

As the Director of Tuan-Chuyen Co., Ltd. (now Tuan-Chuyen Production and Business Establishment), Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen has strived to overcome many difficulties and challenges in the market, gradually building a stable production facility right in his hometown. Not pursuing profit at all costs, he has always believed that economic development must go hand in hand with social responsibility.

His production facility regularly provides employment for 20-25 workers, mainly children of veterans, former soldiers, and local residents, with a stable income of 7-10 million VND per person per month. Thanks to this, many disadvantaged families have gradually stabilized their lives and risen out of poverty sustainably.

In addition, Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen has always fulfilled his tax obligations to the State, complied well with legal regulations, and contributed to building a healthy and civilized business environment in the locality.

Let's work together to eradicate poverty through concrete actions.

Besides helping people escape poverty through job creation, Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen also actively participates in humanitarian, charitable, and social welfare activities. In just the last three years, his family has contributed and raised over 200 million VND to support humanitarian work both locally and internationally.

In particular, in 2022 and 2023, he and other people from his hometown of Dai Dong commune contributed to building three new "Houses of Compassion" for veteran members who are war invalids, victims of Agent Orange, and relatives of martyrs with difficult circumstances. Each house received hundreds of millions of dong in support, not only helping families have stable housing but also providing a great source of encouragement for them to overcome difficulties in life.

As a member of the Association and a respected figure in the community, Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen consistently works with the collective to advise the Party committee, government, and Fatherland Front at the grassroots level on disseminating information and mobilizing people to participate in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns to build a cultured life in residential areas.

Currently, he is actively working with the Veterans Association of the commune to mobilize clans and the people to contribute to the construction of the Cultural Center - Village Temple of the former Dai Dong commune, a project of great significance in preserving traditional cultural values and improving the spiritual life of the people.

Moreover, he also acts as a "bridge" to resolve many conflicts at the grassroots level, contributing to maintaining neighborly relations and building national unity. Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen's family consistently sets a good example in practicing civilized customs in weddings, funerals, and festivals, creating a positive influence in the community.

Good initiatives in helping each other in economic activities.

As a member of the Executive Committee of the Veterans Association of the commune, Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen proposed and implemented many effective models and methods in the movement of veterans helping each other develop economically, most notably the "5 + 1" model (5 well-off or wealthy members helping 1 disadvantaged member). This model has contributed to supporting capital, production experience, and morale for many members, helping them gradually escape poverty and stabilize their lives.

In addition, the Veteran Entrepreneurs Association of the commune, with his active participation, annually supports the construction of at least one "House of Comradeship" worth over 50 million VND; in 2023 alone, it provided over 80 million VND and many days of labor to a veteran's family in particularly difficult circumstances in the locality.

In March 2023, he was elected Chairman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in the former Thach That district. Recognizing this as a deeply humanitarian task, he and the Executive Committee of the Association quickly reorganized the organization, recruited more members, and mobilized social resources to care for the victims.

Through fundraising for the Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims Fund, the Association has provided hundreds of millions of VND annually to members in difficult circumstances and children suffering from the effects of Agent Orange, organizing visits and giving gifts during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), contributing to alleviating pain and helping families reduce difficulties in life.

With a spirit of "actions speak louder than words," businessman and veteran Vu Xuan Chuyen has been making significant contributions to poverty reduction and building a united and compassionate community in his locality. His actions are not flashy or ostentatious, but persistent and profound, creating a positive ripple effect among officials, Party members, and the people.

For many years, he received numerous commendations and certificates of merit from various levels and sectors; he consistently excelled in his duties as a Party member, a model worker at the district (now commune) level, and an exemplary veteran entrepreneur. However, for him, the greatest reward is the trust of the people and the positive changes in his homeland.

Mr. Vu Xuan Chuyen's example is a vivid testament to the promotion of the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era, contributing to the successful achievement of sustainable poverty reduction goals and the building of a compassionate, civilized, and empathetic society.
