| Heartwarming acts of kindness in the "Supporting the Training Ground" program. |
On the training ground of the Training Battalion, the sun grew increasingly intense, the backs of the soldiers' uniforms soaked with sweat, but the recruits remained highly focused, performing each training movement. A burst of joyful cheers erupted when the break signal sounded, and simultaneously, members of the Women's Association of the City Border Guard Command arrived to "Support the Training Ground." Major Ho Minh Phu, Secretary of the Youth Union and Deputy Political Officer of the Training Battalion, explained that this was a model implemented by the Youth Union in coordination with the Women's Association of the City Border Guard Command to boost the morale of the new recruits. During their break on the training ground, they received snacks, milk, kind words of encouragement, and especially musical performances featuring heroic songs praising the Fatherland and the spirit of the soldiers, further strengthening the recruits' resolve and power.
All hardships and difficulties seemed to vanish, and everyone's faces, eyes, and smiles were radiant. Tran Cong Vu, Phan Dang Trung, and other young soldiers shared: "Being far from family and entering military life, with its iron discipline and orderly routines from daily schedules to training regimes, was a daunting and challenging experience for new recruits, causing each of us to feel anxious. But our worries were quickly dispelled by the companionship, care, and support of the unit's commanders."
Love and camaraderie are also abundant in the "Comrade's Birthday Celebration" model, leaving a deep impression on the hearts of young soldiers. From the very first days of entering military life, the soldiers participate in the comrade's birthday celebration program organized by the Youth Union. They light candles together, make wishes, and cut the birthday cake; they immerse themselves in the lively, exciting, and warm atmosphere as they perform heroic songs praising the Fatherland and the soldiers. Homesickness is eased, and the feelings between the soldiers and with the officers and soldiers in the unit become closer, more intimate, and warmer.
“On the night of our first comrade's birthday, the new recruits from disadvantaged families received practical gifts, funded by the unit's 'Saving loose change, sharing difficulties' model. We were deeply moved and reminded ourselves that we must be responsible, strive to train, unite, and complete all tasks,” shared Le Thanh Duc, Nguyen Van Quoc Khanh, Tran Cong Vu, Nguyen Chi Phuong, and many other new recruits who achieved good and excellent results in shooting practice on the training ground and in the “three explosions” test.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tuan Tai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of the Training and Combat Battalion, the grassroots unit serves as a solid support for new recruits by effectively accompanying them, understanding their thoughts and aspirations. From there, they promptly provide practical assistance, offering both moral and material support, helping new recruits overcome unfamiliar situations and difficulties, enabling them to "conquer the sun and rain" on the training ground; and providing political and traditional education , equipping new recruits with unwavering resolve.
Growing stronger each day, the new recruits become the core force in increasing production and building a green, clean, and beautiful environment for their units. They are also the pioneering force of the city's Border Guard youth, ready to help people, localities, and border areas overcome the consequences of natural disasters, storms, and floods; plant trees to expand the area of protective forests to prevent erosion and landslides along the coast; and build flag-lined roads and lighting systems along the two border defense lines…
After completing the first phase of training under the general program of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff, the new recruits are now entering the second phase, focusing on professional and specialized border guard training. On their weather-beaten faces on the training ground, the new recruits are practicing "marching dances," "military-civilian dances," "dances of faith," and "young soldier dances," preparing for the upcoming "Comrade's Birthday" celebration, a night filled with camaraderie and fellowship.
